SALARY: $40,000 - $42,000

SUMMARY:

The Development Manager (DM) plays a key role in expanding United Way Emerald Coast (UWEC)’s impact by managing a portfolio of corporate and donor relationships. This role requires a unique blend of people skills and precision focused on building strong partnerships while staying on top of details, timelines, and strategy. You’ll design innovative fundraising efforts, manage employee giving, inspire corporate giving, and create donor experiences that make an impact—and stick.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Manage a portfolio of corporate and individual donors, leading fundraising campaigns and year-round engagement strategies.
  • Cultivate relationships with key accounts, providing oversight, recognition, and stewardship to encourage long-term support.
  • Launch and execute fundraising efforts across digital and traditional platforms, including social media, online giving, direct mail, and events.
  • Develop and support direct mail appeals to retain, recapture, and acquire donors.
  • Partner with marketing to develop campaign materials, corporate engagement materials, and a year-round menu of giving opportunities.
  • Liaise with workplace coordinators to share best practices and build customized plans that grow giving, volunteering, and advocacy.
  • Support Director of Development in implementing and tracking the annual fundraising plan and budget.
  • Analyze performance metrics and trends to assess progress and refine strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative outreach approaches and donor acquisition efforts.
  • Assist in recruiting, training, and supporting fundraising volunteers (e.g., Women United, NextGen United, workplace ambassadors).
  • Represent United Way Emerald Coast at community events and workplace campaigns; deliver presentations and build awareness of our mission and programs. Craft compelling narratives that inspire financial support.
  • Promote additional engagement opportunities, including volunteering, advocacy, and community involvement.
  • Support the grant and sponsorship processes by researching opportunities, preparing proposals, and tracking outcomes with guidance from leadership.
  • Maintain accurate donor records, campaign data, and revenue tracking in CRM system(s); provide reports, and assist finance staff with reconciliation as needed.
  • Help plan and execute special events and campaign activities by managing logistics, communications, staffing, and follow-up.
  • Build positive, collaborative relationships with staff, business partners, and volunteers.
  • Ensure excellent etiquette and maintain professional, thoughtful communication across all platforms and interactions.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Keep all activities in line with the core values and contribute to the positive culture of UWEC.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities as related to the duties of the position.
  • Assist with the organization’s disaster response efforts, when necessary.
  • Assist with other projects as assigned.
  • Participate in cross-functional activities and events in support of the organization’s mission.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Understand and demonstrate commitment to the mission, vision, and direction of UWEC.
  • Associate’s degree or 2 years of related experience preferred.
  • Ability to pass a Level 2 background screening to support vulnerable populations.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with data tracking, CRM platforms, or donor management software preferred.
  • Analytical mindset with ability to extract insights from campaign data and reporting.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage/maintain sensitive communications in a confidential and professional manner.
  • Team player who works well in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work respectfully and inclusively with a diverse population and multiple stakeholders.
  • Drivers’ license and reliable vehicle, or equivalent ability to travel within a 2-county region.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; confident public speaker and facilitator.
