About United Way of Northern Utah: United Way of Northern Utah is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that serves Weber, Morgan, Box Elder, Cache, and Rich counties. Goal: More than a fundraiser, United Way of Northern Utah (United Way) creates opportunities for people in our community to work together to improve the health, education, and financial stability of every person. We move quickly to meet changing needs in our community and need strong team members to assist with mission advancement. We are seeking a Development and Grant Manager. In this role you will craft innovative and unique funding proposals for government and educational agencies, corporate giving programs, and foundations in a timely, professional, and effective manner. You will be responsible for complete grant management including research, writing, submission, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage a comprehensive grant plan to support annual funding needs as identified by the CEO, Controller, and Director of Resource Development.
- Lead the writing and submission of grant proposals, applications, LOIs, and reports.
- Collaborate with program teams to develop grant objectives and measurable outcomes.
- Support programs writing for department funding through coaching, proofreading, and editing grant applications.
- Identify and research grant funding opportunities to grow revenue. Actively seek out competitive and non-traditional grant funding opportunities.
- Assist in the development of the annual budget and forecast of grant funding.
- Prepare detailed budgets for grant proposals, ensuring alignment with funder requirements and organizational objectives. Collaborate with program and finance teams to project costs accurately and ensure that all necessary expenses are included.
- Serve as the primary liaison with grantors for pre-award and post-award activities.
- Initiate and cultivate productive, positive relationships with grantors.
- Manage and maintain the grant filing management system.
- Actively participate in team meetings, events, workgroups, and organization-wide initiatives.
- Serve as a liaison between leadership and programs on any issues regarding grants.
- Coordinate debriefs with funders on rejected proposals.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of nonprofit grant writing, technical writing, and/or fundraising experience
- Associate’s degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience (2+ years of fundraising/nonprofit)
- Minimum 2 years project management experience
- Proficient knowledge of English language usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Excellent organizational skills (including task and time management).
- Familiarity and history of service within the landscape of community development and social services networks in the UWNU service area (including assets, challenges, community demographics, organizations, existing programs and services, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years experience in nonprofit grant writing, technical writing, and/or fundraising experience
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience (4+ years), in fundraising, communication, English, creative/technical writing, or related field
- An operating knowledge of the United Way Worldwide mission, core values, and professional competencies and UWNU’s mission, vision, values, purpose, objectives and role.
Compensation:
Wage: $45,000-$60,000 annually based on experience and qualifications; annualized based on working 40 hours per week.
Benefits: A comprehensive benefits plan includes vacation, sick, holidays, health, dental, vision, and life and an organization-matched 403(b) plan of up to 10% after one year.
Location: Ogden, Utah (hybrid/remote work options available as approved by the direct supervisor).
Hours: Full-time (40 hours), non-exempt, hourly; UWNU hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. UWNU strives for employees to have great work-life balance and allows for remote work assuming it does not interfere with productivity, results, and/or quality of relationships with partners. Work hours are subject to change based on UWNU and/or events and activities happening in the community.
