Position Description: Reporting to the CDO, the Donor Engagement Senior Manager/Individual Giving Officer is an important member of the Development/Fundraising department and is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of a comprehensive mid-level giving program ($1,000 - $9,999) which includes cultivating and managing United Way NCA Affinity Groups (Regional Advisory Council, Women United, and NextGen United). This position oversees the daily management of these groups and partners with Resource Development colleagues to manage a mid-level giving portfolio and move individual donors through the giving pipeline. Internally, this position works closely with the Community Impact team to support the implementation of meaningful volunteer engagement opportunities for each affinity group, inspiring deeper connection to the mission and programs of United Way NCA.

Key Responsibilities: The Donor Engagement Senior Manager/Individual Giving Officer will work closely with the Chief Development Officer and the entire development/fundraising team to oversee:

Mid-level Giving

  • Manage a portfolio of approximately two hundred (200) mid-level donors at the $1,000 - $9,999 level, taking them through the annual moves management cycle of qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Inspire full giving participation from affinity group members.
  • Create annual cultivation and stewardship plans for affinity group members, proactively striving to move mid-level givers to the major giving pipeline.

Affinity Groups

  • Oversee, recruit, and engage members of the Regional Advisory Council, Women United, and NextGen United.
  • Manage leadership committees of each group and serve as the primary staff member working with the leadership of each group.
  • Coordinate and manage affiliated events to ensure successful development and execution.
  • Communicate clearly, regularly, and effectively with members of each affinity group, to build coordination, teamwork, enthusiasm, and a sense of common purpose.
  • Develop a calendar of annual volunteer opportunities to connect each affinity group to the programs and services of United Way NCA.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): All front-line fundraisers at United Way NCA are expected to meet annual KPIs. The Donor Engagement Senior Manager/Individual Giving Officers’ performance is measured annually by:

  • Face-to-face meetings and presentations,
  • Moves actions completed,
  • Solicitations,
  • Gifts closed,
  • Total dollars raised,
  • Number of new, retained, and upgraded donors, and
  • Collaborative gifts closed.

Job Requirements:

Solid Educational Background and Experience - Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, or equivalent experience is required. Minimum five (5) years of individual giving fundraising experience with a proven track record of managing a portfolio of donors contributing in the $1,000 to $9,999 giving range. Proven experience working with volunteer leadership groups, managing an annual calendar of fundraising and donor engagement.

Drives Revenue & Impact – Results driven, with a relentless focus on gaining resources to support United Way’s mission and community impact focused strategic objectives. Demonstrated entrepreneurial ability to develop alliances and coordinate shared interests of all parties. Excellent problem-solving skills designed to meet the challenges of the organization. Possess ability to meet predetermined revenue goals.

Strategic Relationship Building – People person with a keen knack for developing, maintaining, and deepening strategic relationships that generate the resources that support United Way’s mission. Strong knowledge of fundraising and desire to learn. Demonstrated success managing a portfolio of individual donors at the five- and six-figure levels. The ability to develop strong personal relationships through identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Planned giving experience a plus.

Effective & Engaging Communicator – An effective and passionate communicator, articulating the United Way message in a way that inspires others to act in service to the organization and the community.

Embracing and Managing Change – Champions and facilitates change to ensure long-term community sustainability. Adapts successfully to changing needs while maintaining positive relationships with all constituents, internal and external.
