The Michigan Association of United Ways is a dynamic small team that provides multifaceted support to United Ways across Michigan. We support local United Ways that fight for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in every community.
Michigan 2-1-1 is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Michigan Association of United Ways. The Database Curator will be employed by the Michigan Association of United Ways but will report to Michigan 2-1-1.
Michigan 2-1-1’s Mission is to leverage innovation through a statewide network to connect people and resources for a stronger Michigan. This statewide network is in partnership with 7 regional 2-1-1 centers, utilizing integrated technology and dedicated staff to support connected communities, where all people thrive.
Position Title: Database Curator
Reports To: Statewide Resource Database Director
Classification: Full-time; Salary; Non-Exempt
Location: Lansing, MI; working primarily remote, with some in-person meetings
Summary:
The Database Curator is responsible for curating the MI211 Resource Database and building relationships with statewide service providers to maintain the integrity of the resource database system as used by Michigan 2-1-1 to serve its customers. The Database Curator upholds all standards related to national (Inform USA) database accreditation and implements procedures that ensure a consistent quality service experience for the community. The position is recognized under the OPEIU Local 459 collective bargaining agreement.
Duties & Functions:
- Manages the development and maintenance of new and current resource listings for the effective dissemination of information to community members.
- Maintains integrity of the Resource Database through use of established curation policies and procedures, including taxonomy customization, data standardization, and formatting practices.
- Develops and maintains relationships with service providers to understand their offered programs, to accurately reflect the services listed in the 211 Database.
- Participates in state-level networking opportunities to support regional and statewide standardization of resource database curation policies & procedures.
- Curates state/national level records for organizations that provide disaster-related services and disseminates emerging resource information to the MI211 statewide network in coordination with the MI211 Emergency Management Officer.
- Verifies service provider resource records in the MI211 database with the goal of achieving a 100% verification rate within a 12-month cycle.
- Applies MI 2-1-1 Inclusion/Exclusion criteria uniformly and reviews records for changes in inclusion status.
- Communicates the addition of new resources to the MI211 statewide network.
- Informs the design and development of database curation practices in regard to MI211 Network initiatives, consult with RMW as appropriate.
- Participates in monthly MI 2-1-1 Resource Managers Workgroup meetings.
Qualifications:
- The position requires knowledge normally acquired through a bachelor's degree in library science or human services related field.
- One (1) or more years human services or database information systems work-related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Inform USA (formerly AIRS) CRS-DC certification preferred

Salary:
$48,800 - $58,300, depending upon education and experience, plus a comprehensive benefit package including employer-subsidized medical, dental, and vision insurance, an employer matched 403B, and other benefits averaging an additional 30% of non-salary benefit. Additional work-life benefits include generous vacation and PTO.
