POSITION SUMMARY

(Eligible for Hybrid/ 3 days in office - Alexandria, VA)

As a Data Scientist specializing in Data Lake management and analytics, you'll play a pivotal role in leveraging cutting-edge tools and technologies to extract insights, generate reports, and conduct predictive analytics. You'll be responsible for harnessing the potential of the organization's data lake and other relevant resources to drive informed decision-making and business strategies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION

  • Develop and implement predictive models to forecast donor behavior, fundraising trends, and community needs. 
  • Create reports and dashboards
  • Analyze datasets from CRM, donor databases, and program outcomes to identify actionable insights. 
  • Collect, clean, and analyze data on our nonprofit’s initiatives and projects.
  • Work closely with teams to understand data needs and develop effective data collection strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data-driven approaches into decision-making processes.
  • Navigate and explore the data lake to identify relevant datasets for analysis.
  • Conduct statistical analyses to assess program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Create clear, concise reports and visualizations to communicate insights to stakeholders, donors, and internal teams.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity, implementing quality control measures as needed.
  • Help identify the business data needed to produce the most valuable insights and future analytics.
  • Utilize data to make actionable recommendations.
  • Monitor data management processes to ensure data quality and consistency.
  • Verify data quality to ensure accurate analysis and reporting.
  • Contribute to data dictionary, standards, training, and ongoing updates.
  • Develop and maintain databases, data collection systems, and data analytics tools.
  • Use statistical analysis, machine learning, and AI techniques to perform predictive analytics.
  • Communicate complex findings and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in data analysis.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, finance, statistics, economics, business, computer science, engineering, or information systems
  • At least three years of experience as a data analyst or in a related role.
  • Comfortable with statistics, datasets, and machine learning exercises.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
  • A leader and critical thinker with time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to the nonprofit’s mission 
  • Proven experience as a data analyst or in a related role.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Tableau, PowerBI, QuickSight, GIS); SQL is required
  • Familiar with Snowflake data platform.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

SALARY STATEMENT

The hiring budgeted lifespan salary range for this position is currently $94,000 - $103,000 per year. salaries are determined by several factors including applicant’s knowledge, skills, experience, position, equity, and market.
