Position title: Controller
Position Report To: Chief Financial Officer
FLSA status: Exempt
Position Summary:
Responsible for the financial integrity of the organization, including grants and subsidiaries, if applicable.
Responsibilities:
Administration
· Responsible for updates of accounting policies and procedures
· Preparation of annual UWCA Allocation Request for board approval
· Manage the annual tax return completion process, with direct responsibility for coordinating and collaborating with the external tax return provider.
· Review approval of UWCA payroll and related entries.
· Oversee and manage the endowment/investments, certificates of deposit, corporate assistance accounts, UWCA funded initiatives.
· Oversee accounts payable process, including review and approve check runs, ACH payments, and monthly reconciliations.
· Coordinate and supervise special projects from CFO.
· Review and approve monthly closing for agencies & UWCA.
· Responsible for annual renewal of sales tax exemptions for all entities
· Review employee time allocation monthly to ensure compliance with organizational objectives.
Monthly Agency Allocation Process
· Review and approve monthly agency allocation payment and reporting process.
· Research and answer confirmation requests from agency auditors.
Banking Function
· Oversee banking functions, including payment activity, account authorizations, internal controls, reconciliation, and review.
General Ledger
· Maintain chart of accounts and code all new account numbers to reports.
· Balance & prepare journal entries as necessary for corrections or re-class after analytical review.
· Review and approve purchase orders in accordance with workflows.
· Review and approve all entries made by direct reports.
· Review deferred salary entries and amounts to be paid yearly.
· Prepare or review standard monthly entries as needed.
· Prepare budget entries for input into accounting software to assist in financial reporting.
· Maintain budget changes within line items as needed throughout the year.
Financial Statements and Audit
· Communicate close-out deadlines for year end and monthly reports.
· Supervise approval of monthly and quarterly financial statements, which include, balance reports monthly, analyze and explain variances to budgeted amounts
· Coordinate supporting schedules with direct-reports and Grant Controller and approve footnotes.
· Supervise and prepare PBC audit schedules & work with auditors.
· After the audit is complete, roll the year in MIP and enter bank holidays.
Loans & Advances
· Maintain all loans and advances to agencies, drafting agreements with signatures as needed.
· Follow and document policies as needed.
· Maintenance and calculations of amortization schedules if applicable
· Analyze agency A/R with Sr. VP Agency Impact monthly and take actions, as necessary.

Knowledge and Skills:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business field, CPA preferred.
Experience:
Five or more years of accounting experience. Management experience is necessary. Experience with non-profits a plus. Audit experience is also a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel. Experience with MIP Abila accounting software is a plus as well.

Normal office environment with occasional overtime

Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance.
