Reports To: VP of Community Impact
Exempt Status: Non -Exempt
Work Schedule: Full-Time. Core hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm. Must be able to work a flexible schedule which may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
PURPOSE OF HEALTH INITIATIVE: United Way of the Capital Region launched in Health Initiative to increase access to health care for those in our community by employing community health workers to help individuals navigate the health care system, overcome barriers to care and connect with a primary medical home.
PURPOSE OF POSITION: To provide oversight to the health initiative operations and deliverables. To guide programming to achieve goals and outcomes. To lead strategies to ensure initiative effectiveness, scalability and sustainability.
Essential Functions
Health Initiative
· Staff and support initiatives relevant to health for community impact.
· Serve as staff lead and administrative support for health initiative steering committee.
· Manage meetings and facilitate group discussions.
· Review and report initiative performance metrics and adjust programming accordingly.
· Manage data collection tool.
· Create and maintain strong relationships with area hospitals, clinic, health insurance providers and other subject matter experts.
· Assist in establishing shared measurement practices for health initiatives.
· Manage budget for health initiative.
· Develop strategies for purposeful integration across all United Way's initiatives.
· Research best practices relevant to improving access to healthcare for the uninsured and underinsured and share findings with the health initiative steering committee.
· Work in a team environment and independently as necessary
· Keep VP of Community Impact informed of anticipated issues or shortfalls that may influence the success of the program and the achievement of goals.
Position Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
· 3 years of project management experience required.
· 2 years of experience in nonprofit environment or in leading volunteers preferred.
· 2 years of experience in healthcare industry preferred.
· Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
· Possess a basic understanding of bookkeeping and budgeting concepts.
· Excellent verbal and written skills required.
· Must demonstrate strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
· Must demonstrate ability to work with diverse populations.
· Possess and maintain a valid driver license and reliable transportation.

Travel
Travel is minimal and would primarily be local during the business day.
