Position Summary

The Community Impact Manager advances United Way’s mission of improving lives by supporting the program investments, community partnerships, community initiatives and grants within the Economic Opportunity strategy of United to Thrive. Economic Opportunity strategies focus on implementing workforce strategies and solutions, earning a living wage to have additional income to build wealth and save for assets that break the cycle of poverty for generations to come.United Way of Central Iowa funds 40 community programs in Economic Opportunity, and this role helps maintain strong relationships with those funded partners and programs. This position reports directly to the Community Impact Officer and works collaboratively with other Community Impact Managers and the Community Impact team. The ideal candidate will have strong relationship building skills, experience and knowledge in workforce development strategies, program management/grant management experience and proven success in working with diverse community collaborations.

We offer a full benefits package and a hybrid work schedule of 3 days in the office and 2 days remote after 90 calendar days of employment for this full-time position. Essential Accountabilities Include (but not limited to):

  • Facilitates and supports engagement strategies with funded programs and partners at the direction of the Community Impact Officer. This includes providing technical support, maintaining knowledge of program performance measures and outcomes and connecting partners to community resources as needed.
  • Develops and manages positive relationships with community partners, agencies, diverse stakeholders and UWCI staff to identify community needs and advance UWCI organizational goals.
  • At the direction of and in communication with the Community Impact Officer, support and assist in the preparation of volunteer cabinet meetings and communications.
  • Works closely with the Community Impact Officer to coordinate and assist with the execution and oversight of grants awarded to UWCI in relevant areas of impact.
  • Supports the Community Impact Officer in the fiscal management of related grants and/or programs, including budget development and oversight, processing of invoices, and creating payment requests.
  • Supports and promotes collaborative work with applicable donor affinity group directors and cabinets in aligned areas.
  • Coordinates, attends and/or facilitates relevant meetings as identified by the Community Impact Officer.
  • Communicates and collaborates regularly with other Community Impact Managers to support all United to Thrive initiatives as needed.
  • Collaborates with others across the organization to support and ensure all facets of Community Impact related grants, programs and initiatives are being executed effectively and timely.
  • Stays abreast of relevant community issues and communicates findings to appropriate Community Impact Staff.
