Purpose of Position:

The Community Impact Director will be deeply committed to United Way’s purpose to create a community of opportunity and hope. We’re looking for a self-starter, team player, thought leader and problem solver who cares about solutions to issues of housing affordability and racial equity. The Community Impact Director will play a critical role helping to design strategy, implement programming, build invaluable external relationships, and ensure achievement of United Way’s strategic vision. By building strong systems, spearheading research, and supporting grant initiatives in a variety of ways, the Community Impact Director will ensure the growth and sustainability of United Way’s important bodies of work. The Community Impact Director will be committed to a culture of purpose and fun where they live the United Way values internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Create and implement efficient systems and processes aligned with the strategic objectives of United Way’s affordable housing and racial equity efforts
  • Support the development of United Way’s racial equity programs and grantmaking
  • Oversee grants awarded by United Way ensuring adherence to grant requirements and achievement of program outcomes
  • Monitor, analyze, and evaluate data on the performance of United Way’s affordable housing and racial equity programs
  • Co-design programs and narratives for grant opportunities that support United Way initiatives
  • Facilitate training and the development of resources for affordable housing and racial equity programming
  • Conduct research and present findings for reports on United Way’s housing and racial equity offering insight and recommendations 
  • Establish and sustain strong relationships with partners- local government, nonprofit organizations, and other key external stakeholders
  • Develop strategic partnerships for United Way’s community impact across Northeast Florida 
  • Build deep collaboration across all departments within the organization
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of marketing and communication plans for affordable housing, racial equity, and other special programs
  • Represent United Way externally, and generate support for the organization’s program work across the five-county region
  • Perform other research as instructed by Vice President of Community Impact
  • Provide other assistance to the Community Impact Department as directed by the Vice President of Community Impact

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Social Work, Community Development, Public Administration, Psychology, Nonprofit Management, Business Management or other related field
  • Master’s degree preferred 
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience 
  • Experience with and understanding of affordable housing Florida
  • Exceptional ability to foster transformational relationships 
  • Outstanding data management, research, and reporting capabilities
  • Deep passion for justice and equity with a proven track record of relevant program work
  • Experience with grant management 
  • Creative and visionary thought leader and problem solver
  • Outstanding data management, research, reporting, and analysis capabilities
  • Expertise in project management
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Extensive skills in program strategy, execution, and achieving outcomes 
  • Proven capability of communicating well verbally and in writing
  • Proficiency in presenting and facilitating for groups
  • Expertise in time management, execution of deadlines, and discovering solutions
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Capable of collaborating at all levels and across all departments within the organization 
  • Experience in the public sector (nonprofit, government etc.) 
  • Embody United Way values and a serious commitment to the organization’s mission

Compensation and Benefits:
