Basic Job Summary

The Community Impact Coordinator supports the organization’s mission by assisting with programs and partnerships that strengthen financial stability, improve health outcomes, expand youth opportunities, and build community resilience. This position works closely with the Director of Community Impact to coordinate initiatives across all four impact areas: Healthy Community, Youth Opportunity, Financial Security, and Community Resiliency.

The role provides direct support for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, Bank on Acadiana, and local Reentry Coalitions, and other community-based projects that advance United Way of Acadiana’s impact work.

This position is grant-funded and may be temporary or subject to renewal based on continued funding availability.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Occasionally, an employee might be asked to carry/transport heavy items up to 40lbs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Community Impact Coordination

  • Assist the Director of Community Impact in planning and implementing initiatives within all four impact areas.
  • Coordinate logistics, communication, and partner engagement for community programs, events, and campaigns.
  • Support data tracking, reporting, and documentation for grants, funders, and internal evaluation.
  • Represent the organization in community meetings and collaborations.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Support

  • Coordinate site schedules and operations to ensure high-quality, IRS-compliant tax preparation services.
  • Serve as a liaison with IRS partners, community organizations, and host sites.
  • Assist with outreach and community engagement to promote free tax services.

Reentry Coalition Support

  • Work with Reentry Coalitions to strengthen collaboration among agencies serving justice-impacted individuals.
  • Help plan and facilitate meetings, communications, and shared initiatives.
  • Support reentry-related programs and events that improve community reintegration and stability.

Bank On Acadiana Support

  • Assist in coordinating Bank On Acadiana initiatives to promote financial stability and access to safe banking products.
  • Serve as a liaison with financial institutions, community partners, and coalition members.
  • Support outreach, education, and community engagement efforts to increase awareness of Bank On certified accounts.
  • Track program outcomes, participation, and partner engagement to support reporting and continuous improvement.

General Duties

  • Assist with community events, outreach activities, and public education efforts.
  • Maintain professional communication and strong relationships with community partners.
  • Perform administrative and coordination tasks to support the overall success of the Community Impact team.

Additional Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Community Impact.

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in volunteer coordination and community outreach.
  • Proficiency in managing referral platforms or similar systems, with a focus on Unite Us.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of United Way of Acadiana.

Education, Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in community engagement, social services, or volunteer coordination.
  • Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines independently.
  • Comfortable working with diverse populations, including volunteers and justice-impacted individuals.
  • Basic administrative and data tracking experience (VITA or IRS certification experience preferred).

Requirements before Hire: 

Proof and maintenance of a valid driver’s license  

Proof and maintenance of Vehicle Insurance and reliable transportation  

Must pass a Louisiana State Police Criminal Background Check 

Hours of Work: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., M-F  

Salary: TBD
