MEMBER POSITION TITLE: Clinic Support Specialist - AmeriCorps

PROGRAM: United Way Fox Cities, 1455 Midway Road, Menasha, WI 54952.

LOCATION: St. Francis Free Clinic/Father Carr’s Place 2B. 1000 N. Koeller St., Oshkosh, WI 54902.

OVERVIEW: The Clinic Support Specialist role will play an integral part in helping to enhance services at our clinic through promoting various preventative screening options and working directly with our patients to serve their needs. This individual will work directly with the Clinic Director and Clinic Manager on day-to-day operations and help support the clinic’s mission to serve the underserved people in our community. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assisting with implementation and continuation of programs- Care Message (appointment reminder program) & Wisconsin Well Woman Program Referral Network/Well Woman Visits (“Wellness Saturdays”)
    • Entering patient data and assisting with data collection
    • Creating appointment reminders and monitoring Care Message platform
    • Completing and submitting monthly data reports to WWWP (Wisconsin Well Woman Program) regarding referral rate and statistics for patients needing additional cervical and breast cancer screening support
    • Assisting with planning for wellness activities and education starting in Fall of 2026 (“Wellness Saturdays”)
  • Marketing and outreach:
    • Promoting our Wellness Clinic and various Wellness Programs to patients through text message outreach utilizing Care Message platform
    • Updating clinic flyers and creating new flyers to help promote various clinic opportunities (i.e. pediatrician visits, well woman screening, etc.)
    • Connecting with various health organizations for potential partnerships and collaborations for Wellness Clinic and General Partnerships
  • Assisting with communication of announcements on social media platform and Care Message appointment reminder platform
  • Patient Support:
    • Connecting with patients in-person during clinic hours, or via phone call, email or text
    • Working with patients to help research and apply for patient assistance programs
    • Assisting patients with applying for financial assistance programs for additional care needed at local hospitals
    • Helping to schedule patients for appointments with our specialty services
  • Coordinating/Assisting with patient referrals to specialty care outside of our clinic (i.e. vision, oncology, hematology referrals)
    • Contacting surrounding clinics and hospital systems to identify which places and providers are willing to provide free or discounted care to our patients who need specialized care
    • Updating our resource binder with contact information and pertinent information that we can refer patients to (i.e. food pantry information, specialty care contact information, support groups, etc.)
    • Working with new residents who have moved into our Bethlehem Inn to explain our clinic’s services and schedule them for appointments as needed
  • Attend and participate in AmeriCorps program training on a variety of topics, including program orientation all-member team training and networking opportunities, community service projects, etc. These trainings occur through a combination virtual and in-person.
  • Complete AmeriCorps paperwork, such as monthly reports, feedback surveys, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Clerical experience- word processing, managing files and records – both electronically and manually
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills
  • Self- motivated, goal oriented, and organized – ability to get the job done.
  • Meets deadlines and completes tasks with a high degree of accuracy and dependability.
  • Be 18 years or older at the beginning of their service
  • At minimum, hold a high school diploma or equivalent. The ideal candidate will hold an associate or bachelor’s degree in health and human services or public health degree or related background and experience. Upper-level undergraduates with related experience are encouraged to apply.
  • U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or Lawful permanent resident alien of the U.S.
  • Provide information and complete, and pass a criminal history check

OTHER INFORMATION:

  • Member Term of Service: The Member’s service term will start 06/01/2026 and end on 8/31/2026. There’s flexibility with the position start date, however the position must start by or before 06/01/2026 or the time requirements and living allowance conditions will change.
  • Time Requirements: The member project will be part-time.
    • Part-time members are expected to serve 300 hours, which averages 25 hours/week during the service period; or
    • Part-time members are expected to serve 450 hours, which averages 37.5 hours/week during the service period.
  • This position will be hybrid; in-person during clinic hours as schedule allows, but option to work hybrid with approval from Site Supervisor. Please note, the member must live in Wisconsin and be willing to commute to the host site organization.
  • Members will receive a gross living allowance while serving based on total service term, which is paid on the 15th and last day of each month. Please note there will not be an additional hourly wage or salary above and beyond living allowance.
    • Part-time members: The gross living allowance amount for part-time (300 hours) members will be $720.59 per pay period (the amount listed is before tax deductions); or
    • Part-time members: The gross living allowance amount for part-time (450 hours) members will be $1,080.88 per pay period (the amount listed is before tax deductions).
  • Segal Education Award upon successful completion of hourly requirement described in Time Requirements:
    • The Education Award amount for this part-time (300 hours) position is $1,565.08. Please note, this education award is an electronic transfer to either your educational institution, federal loan provider, etc. Members will not receive the education award via direct payment (such as check, cash, etc.); or
    • The Education Award amount for this part-time (450 hours) position is $1,956.35. Please note, this education award is an electronic transfer to either your educational institution, federal loan provider, etc. Members will not receive the education award via direct payment (such as check, cash, etc.).
  • Forbearance on qualified student loans while serving and interest accrual payments.
