We are seeking a visionary Chief Executive Officer who embodies servant leadership and brings a heartfelt commitment to community service. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, purpose-driven leader ready to champion our mission and elevate our impact across the region.

Position Summary:

The PRESIDENT/CEO has the day-to-day responsibility of managing all operational aspects of the program. The PRESIDENT/CEO implements the policy directives emanating from the Board of Directors and assumes the overall leadership role in guiding all administrative, fiscal, financial, and community-oriented program activities as delineated by the standards adopted by the State of Georgia, Federal Accounting Policies, and The United Way Worldwide.

General Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Program Planning, Development, and Evaluation- It is the President/CEO's responsibility to plan and develop programs as funded by the funding agencies and approved by the Board of Directors. Oversee the annual campaign efforts; Implements creative strategies to increase, strengthen, and diversify funding sources; Oversee the administration of the Community Impact process; Oversee the administration of other United Way of Southwest Georgia services; Work closely with appropriate public and private funding sources; Preparation and administration of grants and contracts for initial or continued funding for approval by the Board;
  2. Fundraising and Fiscal Management- The PRESIDENT/CEO shall assist, advise, and act for the Board of Directors in the following: Oversees/supervises all bookkeeping, accounting, and financial activities. Prepare and provide a periodic financial statement for the board, and compare prior quarter vs. current quarter financial statements. Develop an annual budget for review and approval by the Board; ensure that expenditures are within the budgeted amounts; and prepare budget revisions as needed through the year. Drive sustainable revenue growth through diversified funding sources, including grants, individual donors, corporate sponsorships, and government contracts.
  3. Environment/Culture- The PRESIDENT/CEO is responsible for ensuring the following environmental standards are met: Establishment of an environment/culture that enhances the positive image of the United Way and the agencies it serves. Equipping and maintaining an environment/culture that ensures the health and safety of the staff, visitors, and volunteers.
  4. Personnel Management, Board Governance, and Committee Development – The PRESIDENT/CEO is authorized to execute all personnel actions subject to the Personnel Policies and Procedures (Personnel Manual), and to report such actions as necessary to the Board. The PRESIDENT/CEO is responsible for: Recruiting, hiring, staffing, and supervising department heads and other personnel not under the supervision of department heads; Working closely with the Executive Committee and Board of Directors to recruit, train, and maintain a strong, balanced Board of Directors, and Community Impact Committee Volunteers; Serves as the primary staff person for the Board of Directors and the Executive, Finance, and nominating committees as well as overseeing the staffing of all other committees, and assisting the Governance Committee with annual review and update of the organization's By-Laws.
  5. Other duties as assigned

    The President/CEO shall perform other duties as prescribed by the United Way Board of Directors.

Qualifications:

The ideal President/CEO shall embody the following qualities and qualifications:

  • Five years of prior experience as a CEO, Executive Director, or in a related leadership position at a nonprofit, foundation, government, or comparable industry.
  • Exemplify the values of the United Way of Southwest Georgia; and have a passion for the mission, the community, and the agencies it serves;
  • Excellent organizational development, interpersonal, marketing, communication, administration, and personnel management skills;
  • Understanding of not-for-profits and experience working with and developing boards of directors and volunteers;
  • An affinity and sensitivity for working with a culturally and politically diverse community;
  • Experience managing a complex budget;
  • Proven success at fund development, including knowledge of and success in attracting foundation and corporate grants; ability to identify, steward, and solicit individual donors;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; strong presentation skills;
  • Effective and comprehensive computer skills with familiarity with AI and data systems relevant to nonprofits (e.g., Salesforce, predictive analytics, and automated reporting);
  • The ability to foster a healthy organizational culture, to encourage teamwork and collaboration; strong interpersonal skills that include the ability to inspire and motivate; effective in conflict management;

Work Environment & Schedule:

  • Hybrid role with a flexible schedule
  • Occasional evening/weekend engagements and regional travel required

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary Range: This is a full-time, exempt position. The annual salary range is $95,000 to $115,000, commensurate with experience. A comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision coverage; Paid holidays and time off; Long-term disability; and retirement plan with company match. In addition, relocation expenses are available for this opportunity.
