The Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) oversees the development, execution, communication, and
strategic initiatives in philanthropy, communications, marketing, volunteer engagement, and
mobilization. By driving innovative thinking and data-driven strategies, the CAO will position Trident United Way (TUW) to be seen as a visionary market leader by the community, donors, and other philanthropic organizations. The CAO will also ensure that all fundraising efforts support the TUW community impact model and revenue goals. Such model components include workplace development, individual and major gifts, planned giving, Affinity Groups, Volunteer Engagement and revenue-producing events.


POSITION SUMMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Organizational Leadership
Participate as a member of the Executive Team providing a united, visible, and strong leadership
presence across the organization and throughout the community served.  Partner with the CEO, Resource Development, and Communications Teams to develop and implement intentional, strategic, and comprehensive long and short-range plans focused on revenue generation, community mobilization, and donor engagement.  Provide excellent staff leadership and team supervision while promoting cross-functional collaboration.  Establish and implement the infrastructure needed to align all needed resources, volunteer partnerships, and revenue ensuring all efforts support the TUW community impact model.  Planned giving, coordinate grants, and work with the team to build annual plans that support overall revenue goals.


Strategic Communications & Marketing

Oversee the integration of data and strategic communications so philanthropy, impact, and
volunteer interactions are coordinated and optimized.
Initiate a cross-functional communication strategy that helps to mobilize and grow targeted
external relationships.
Coordinate internal efforts so that all revenue-generating initiatives build visibility and
awareness while enhancing organizational performance.
Analyze and segment audiences in order to apply targeted outreach and messaging for
prospecting, mobilization, and engagement.
Improve the donor experience by integrating and adapting technological platforms
(MarketSmart, ANDAR, etc) that help customize plans to ask, thank, and inform donors. 


Community Mobilization
Mobilize community partners including key business leaders, corporate partners, individuals, and
other nonprofit agencies to promote the success and increased funding for United for ALICE and
other mission programs.
Provide leadership to optimize the volunteer experience and maximize opportunities for
engagement and involvement.

Fund Development & Management

Develop a donor-centric approach that incorporates development best practices that provide an
exceptional donor experience inspiring increased giving and long-term engagement.
Evaluate donor experience in order to design, implement, and continuously improve a resource
development model based on best practices.
Create, oversee, and sustain organizational fundraising strategies and new initiatives.
Develop cultivation strategies to deepen the relationship with existing donors, and increase
retention, and average gift size.
Increase innovative strategies surrounding workplace giving as well as new strategies that will
increase followership and donor base.
Ensure information on donor needs, interests, and expectations is captured in CRM and that the
system is consistently used to provide a comprehensive view of existing and potential donors.



EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Minimum of 5-10 years of progressive leadership experience within community impact and
nonprofit organizations.
Two (2) or more years of program evaluation experience, measuring outcomes and using data to
improve program performance.
Experience with high-level organizational strategic planning
Technical grant-writing skills including formal reporting procedures.
Experience leading and presenting issues around equity and disparate community needs.
Expertise in managing high-performing professionals in a distributed workforce environment.
Preferred experience with low- to moderate-income families and/or convening large-scale,
collaborative networks.
Technology acumen that enables innovation and emerging programmatic concepts.


COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $150,000.00 - $200,000.00
