MEMBER POSITION TITLE: 211 Community Connection Navigator

OVERVIEW: 211 is a simple, free way to connect all people in need with vital human services 24/7/365 for everyday life or in times of crisis. By dialing 211 callers are linked to information about local health, human service, and disaster related resources. 211 brings people and community resources together. There are 8 locally based 211 contact centers in Wisconsin, including the United Way Fox Cities (UWFC) 211.
The Community Connection Navigator will work collaboratively with UWFC and 211 staff, local agencies and other community partners to remove barriers and improve access to basic needs services.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Gain an in-depth understanding of local/statewide health and human service resources
- Answer calls/texts/chats to 211 and connect callers to community non-profits and government services
- Advocate for individuals experiencing difficulty or lacking the ability needed to navigate agencies, programs, and services.
- Assist with peer support services for adults struggling to find a path to recovery.
- Facilitate, support, and coordinate collaborative initiatives which may include housing/shelter navigation, peer support services, and other partnerships to address barriers to accessing resources to support Social Determinants of Health (SDOH). This could include attending community meetings, creating a project roadmap, helping design call or project workflows, calling individuals who need assistance in participating counties.
- Attend outreach events and provide support of 211 service including digital access & navigation programming.
- Attend and participate in AmeriCorps program training on a variety of topics, including program orientation all-member team training and networking opportunities, community service projects, etc. These trainings occur through a combination virtual and in-person.
- Complete AmeriCorps paperwork, such as monthly reports, feedback surveys, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bilingual preferred – English/Spanish
- Ability to communicate and work effectively and with a high level of professionalism with staff, community members, partners, and other stakeholders.
- Experience working in the mental health and substance use services system is preferred, including training to provide support to adults struggling to find a path to recovery.
- Self- motivated, goal oriented, and organized – ability to get the job done.
- Meets deadlines and completes tasks with a high degree of accuracy and dependability.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Teams and cloud-based technology
- Passion for helping people
- Be 18 years or older at the beginning of their service
- At minimum, hold a high school diploma or equivalent. The ideal candidate will hold an associate or bachelor’s degree in health and human services or public health degree or related background and experience. Upper-level undergraduates with related experience are encouraged to apply.
- U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or Lawful permanent resident alien of the U.S.
- Provide information and complete, and pass a criminal history check
OTHER INFORMATION:
- Member Term of Service: The Member’s service term will start on 01/02/2026 and end on 8/31/2026.There’s flexibility with the position start date, however the position must start by or before 01/12/2026 or the time requirements and living allowance conditions will change.
- Time Requirements: The member project can be part-time or full-time.
- Full-time members are expected to serve 1,200 hours, which averages 35-40 hours/week during the service period.
- Part-time members are expected to serve 900 hours, which averages 26-30 hours/week during the service period.
- This position will be in-person with the potential to be hybrid. Member will serve hours Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- In-person training is required for the first 6 weeks.
- If hybrid is appropriate, the member may work from home on Mondays and Fridays and be in office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
- Members will receive a gross living allowance while serving, which is paid on the 15th and last day of each month. Please note there will not be an additional hourly wage or salary above and beyond living allowance.
- Full-time members: The gross living allowance amount for full-time members will be $1,080.88 per pay period (the amount listed is before tax deductions).
- Part-time members: The gross living allowance amount for part-time members will be $765.63 per pay period (the amount listed is before tax deductions).
- Segal Education Award upon successful completion of hourly requirement described in Time Requirements: The Education Award amount for this full-time position is $5,176.50. The Education Award amount for this part-time position is $3,697.50. Please note, this education award is an electronic transfer to either your educational institution, federal loan provider, etc. Members will not receive the education award via direct payment (such as check, cash, etc.).
- Member positions that average 35-40 hours/week are eligible for health insurance and childcare reimbursement (income eligibility required for childcare reimbursement benefit)
- Forbearance on qualified student loans while serving and interest accrual payments.
