About us
United Way of Lane County mobilizes communities to action so all can thrive. We know that our communities’ greatest challenges – like financial instability, childcare access, academic struggles, and workforce challenges, are deeply interconnected. Our role is to bring people and resources together to address them. Through cross-sector convening and strategy, fundraising and grantmaking, nonprofit capacity building, and volunteerism, we’re strengthening our communities’ ability to tackle challenges and ultimately improve outcomes for kids and families. We take a comprehensive, collaborative approach, actively listening and responding to local needs. To counter the disparate outcomes communities face within race/ethnicity, geography, income, and more, we actively work to dismantle barriers so everyone has equitable access and opportunity to thrive. Together, we're creating a future where everyone, everywhere can reach their full potential.
We pursue equity at all levels of the organization, recognizing that we cannot improve outcomes for children without explicitly addressing systemic racism, investing deeply in underserved communities, and allowing historically marginalized communities to lead.
United Way of Lane County is also home to the Early Childhood Hub of Lane County, our community's early learning hub. They are Lane County's local hub for parenting & caregiving help, and a guide to the community’s free or low-cost opportunities for play and learning. Housed within the Early Childhood Hub is Preschool Promise, Black Early Learning (part of the Lane African-American/Black Student Success program), Kids In Transition to School (KITS), Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, and more.
