The Community School Coordinator at Asheville High School/SILSA is part of UWABC’s Community Schools team and works 4 of 5 days onsite at Asheville High School/SILSA.&nbsp; The Coordinator works in concert with the school principal, parents, community leaders and other UWABC staff to promote the school’s vision and the school improvement plan through strengthening the&nbsp;<a href="https://learningpolicyinstitute.org/sites/default/files/product-files/Community_Schools_Effective_INFOGRAPHIC.pdf" target="_blank">four pillars of an effective community school</a> while holding true to UWABC’s long-term strategic vision.Position is responsible for supporting student academic achievement by addressing barriers to necessary services and supports, promoting active family and community engagement, and enabling more efficient and effective use of key resources.&nbsp; &nbsp;KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Facilitate a Community School Assets and Needs Assessment<ul><li>Lead community conversations and surveys with key stakeholders</li><li>Collaborate with School Partnerships Manager and Data and Evaluation Manager on data analysis, visualization and communication to the school community, partners, and UWABC staff&nbsp;</li><li>Utilize the assessment to guide the work of the Resource Team, including potential program investments&nbsp;</li></ul>Resource Team and Supports<ul><li>Develop, convene, and guide the Resource Team to align the work with school improvement goals, asset and needs assessment findings, and community school strategies and initiatives</li><li>Maintain Resource Rooms</li><li>Partner with UWABC departments to build capacity of the Community Schools initiative</li></ul>Support the School’s Student Success Planning Team<ul><li>Serve on key school teams focused on student attendance, behaviors and academic performance</li><li>Represent community-based organizations and individual volunteers at the school level</li><li>Build capacity and infrastructure to link students with beneficial services</li><li>Share best practices between the school and community-based organizations and volunteers&nbsp;</li></ul>&nbsp;Support Student Achievement<ul><li>Work with school administration and staff to create a positive learning environment</li><li>Identify and connect students to quality in-school and out-of-school time programs and volunteer services</li><li>Support transition year initiatives&nbsp;</li></ul>Support School Faculty and Staff<ul><li>With support of UWABC’s Community Engagement Team, train and coordinate volunteers to support before, during and after-school priorities</li><li>Serve on pertinent school teams such as the School Improvement Team</li><li>Promote faculty and staff appreciation efforts&nbsp;</li></ul>Engage and Support Parents and Families<ul><li>Work with school administration and staff to create a welcoming environment for parents and families</li><li>With support of the Family and Community Engagement Manager, host weekly Community Nights and other family events</li><li>Co-create, promote and coordinate family and community engagement opportunities</li></ul>Serve as an active member of the Asheville Buncombe United for Youth (U4Y) Network<ul><li>Participate in U4Y check-in meetings and professional development</li><li>Share relevant U4Y information and strategies with school faculty, staff and volunteers</li></ul>Partnerships, Data Evaluation, and Continuous Quality Improvement&nbsp;<ul><li>Collect and organize required data&nbsp;</li><li>Communicate progress toward Resource Team and Community School goals</li><li>Support partnership protocols and agreements in conjunction with the Community Partnerships Director</li><li>Write and produce reports required by UWABC, grantees, school district and U4Y</li></ul>Other Related Duties and Responsibilities<ul><li>Provide programmatic supervision to an assigned intern(s) from a local university&nbsp;</li><li>Manage an operations budget</li><li>Serve on relevant UWABC committees and community groups/collaboratives</li></ul>This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are associated with the position. Director of Major Gifts
If you love working in a strong team environment, are an effective communicator and relationship builder with a 
passion for equity-centered philanthropy, and have a proven track record of driving major gift support to an 
organization then United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County (UWABC) is where you want to be. The 
Director of Major Gifts is part of the Resource Development team and works closely with the CEO and major 
donors while holding true to UWABC’s long-term strategic vision. 

Position is responsible for maintaining and increasing annual revenue through the development, implementation, 
and management of comprehensive major gifts moves management plan. Internally this position will work closely 
with the VP of Resource Development, President and CEO, and cross-functionally to leverage and enhance donor 
and prospect engagement to inspire deeper connection to the mission and programs of UWABC. Director is 
responsible for the management of the overall affinity group and planned giving strategies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
â Maintain the major gifts pipeline and consult with the CEO and Vice President of Resource Development 

on cultivation strategies and portfolio management for major individual gifts
â Responsible for $1M in annual revenue from cash and pledges 
â Link donors’ philanthropic goals with UWABC programs, initiatives, and volunteer opportunities
â Develop strategies with Resource Development staff to increase the number of major and leadership 

donors within the workplace
â Create and distribute patron communications and collateral, in partnership with the Senior Director of 

Marketing and Communications to ensure alignment between departments
â Prioritize short and long-term development communications needs
â Design and manage department-steered events, ranging from donor cultivation activities to the annual 

Community Services Award dinner
â Record donor interactions and communications in CRM software; prepare and regularly run all reports 

necessary to track progress toward goals
â Develop revenue goals for major giving with Vice President of Resource Development, tracking progress 

closely and adjusting strategies when necessary to ensure the achievement of goals
â Provide development revenue and projection reporting
â Support the activities of the board of directors and affinity groups to grow major gifts revenue
â Participate in general management and strategic planning by serving on Leadership Team 
â Work with other departments to identify potential funding opportunities
â Enhance and execute planned-giving and endowment strategies
â Refine and grow the planned giving program
â In partnership with Marketing and Communications, develop planned giving marketing efforts to include 

digital strategies and targeted mailings
â Ensure all planned gifts are documented and recorded in CRM
