POSITION SUMMARY To lead the continued implementation of the countywide Hunger Relief Strategic Plan (originally adopted in October 2015) to fight hunger and food insecurity in Palm Beach County. This is a multi-faceted, collective impact initiative working with numerous community stakeholders throughout the entire County.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:Continue to facilitate a framework for implementing the Hunger Relief Strategic Plan and MacKenzie Scott Hunger Relief Strategies, county-wide. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;o&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Work with the community, which includes but is not limited to, community representatives, funders, faith-based organizations, government, corporate, education, and nonprofit partners to monitor and execute priorities, strategies, and desired outcomes, and re-evaluate them when needed. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;o&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Continually build consensus and facilitate collaboration and growth with county-wide Hunger Relief Advisory Council as well as Hunger Relief work groups and subcommittees, along with appropriate committees within the community. &nbsp;Manage the Palm Beach County Hunger Relief staff, Advisory Council, Work Groups, and Subcommittees. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;o&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Effectively manage the process through meeting management tools, meeting notices, agendas, drafting materials to be considered, minutes, data, fact sheets, statistics, etc. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;o&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Mobilize stakeholders and refine Hunger Relief Work Groups/Subcommittees to monitor and track hunger relief data and hunger trends. &nbsp;Build community partnerships with traditional and non-traditional partners around the Hunger Relief Strategic Plan. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;o&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Maintain and establish relationships with key community members to address issues related to food security and hunger relief. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;o&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Facilitate collaboration and communication among UWPBC staff, agencies, donors, policy makers and other stakeholders around the development and implementation of partnership initiatives and specific strategies tied in with the Hunger Relief Strategic Plan. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;o&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Actively participate in relevant community, state and national task forces, commissions, and committees in order to enhance our work and affect change. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;o&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Stay informed about public policy issues affecting hunger relief, including local, state and/or federal changes/opportunities, and how to favorably impact our community. &nbsp;Measure, evaluate, and communicate successes and challenges. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;o&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Collect information and data, and compile regular progress reports consistent with planned evaluation strategies, or funding requirements. Use available systems and technology to gather and analyze data (e.g., 211, food finder map, local/state/federal data). &nbsp;Prepare &nbsp;relevant &nbsp;reports &nbsp;and &nbsp;documentation for &nbsp;distribution, &nbsp;including an &nbsp;annual summary report on the Hunger Relief Strategic Plan (as needed). &nbsp;Increase investment in food security by securing funding through grants, as well as private and corporate donations, working with resource development, major gifts and community investment teams or other United Way staff members to raise funds. o&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Ensure all grant requirements are met and/or exceeded.&nbsp; o&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Identify projects for funding consistent with the identified priorities and strategies.  Job Title: Information &amp; Referral Specialist Reporting To: Client Services Manager 

 Department: Contact Center, 2-1-1 Orange 
County 

 Position: Full-time/NON-EXEMPT 

 
Purpose of Position 
The primary purpose of the Information &amp; Referral Specialist at our Contact/Call Center is to assess each caller’s 
needs and accurately refer them to the appropriate health, human and/or social services agencies from the 2-1-1 
Orange County (211OC) resource database. We achieve this by educating expert working knowledge of the 211OC 
resource database and its management software, advocating, and empowering each caller so that they are 
provided with great customer service. By the end of each call, clients are one step closer to receiving the assistance 
that they need. 

 
Key Duties and Responsibilities 
 • Provide information and referral services to clients contacting 211OC through the helpline, email, texting 

methods, outreach events, or any other means identified by 211OC management as official I&amp;R channels. 

 • Perform in-depth screenings and assessments, collects client information, and encourage clients to apply for 
entitled benefits. 

 • Connect clients to appropriate resources, empower clients, de-escalate upset clients during crises and/or 
situations of abuse, trouble-shoot for additional options. 

 • Educate clients on available services to ensure it best fits their need and empower clients to choose the 
services they feel are most appropriate for their situations. 

 • Follow-up with clients in critical situations to ensure they received the assistance that they needed. If not, 
provide them with additional resources and help. 

 • Provide warm-transfers to appropriate crisis response teams in critical situations to receive help including 
Domestic Violence, Suicide, and Behavioral health hotlines, fire, and police departments. 

 • Assist callers with different languages by using the Language Line. 

 • Develop an expert working knowledge of the 211OC’s management software including Community 
Information Exchange database, telephony, softphone, texting, administrative systems and other approved 
software. 

 • Troubleshoot unavailability of services through expert knowledge of navigation of the 211OC’s resource 
database and through teamwork with other I&amp;R Specialists and the Resource Department. 

 • Assist clients in problem-solving when no services are available which can meet their needs. 

 • Other duties as assigned. 

 • Assist with compiling monthly and bi-annual program reporting. 

 • Advocate on behalf of clients who have been denied services. 

 • Troubleshoot basic technological failures. 
 • Performs other duties as assigned.
