<h2>Purpose of Position:</h2>The Volunteer Coordinator position is responsible for leading the recruitment, placement, training, and retention of volunteers in support of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. This position plays a critical role in advancing the mission of United Way and the RealSense program by ensuring that all volunteer activities are aligned with IRS regulations, organizational goals, and community needs. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational, communication, and community engagement skills, along with a passion for volunteerism and financial stability efforts.&nbsp;Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:<ul><li>Lead the recruitment and retention of VITA volunteers.</li><li>Develop and implement grassroots recruitment strategies, engaging community partners and other local organizations.</li><li>Design and manage the full volunteer program lifecycle to ensure a high-quality volunteer experience.</li><li>Conduct comprehensive analysis on program volunteer data.</li><li>Train and manage site coordinators and volunteers in the accurate use of volunteer management software.</li><li>Ensure all VITA volunteers are IRS certified and compliant with IRS Volunteer Standards of Conduct and Quality Site Requirements.</li><li>Manage and provide technical assistance for the virtual, self-directed VITA certification process. &nbsp;</li><li>Maintain accurate records of volunteer certifications and submit timely documentation and reports to the IRS.</li><li>Develop and execute year-round communications and engagement strategies for volunteer retention, including survey administration and focus groups.&nbsp;</li><li>Collaborate with the Tax Program Manager to support tax site planning, operations, and volunteer placement.</li><li>Build and maintain relationships with business and community partners.</li><li>Collaborate with the Program and Services Coordinator on various initiatives.</li><li>Perform other duties and special assigned by RealSense Program Manager.</li></ul>Experience/Position Requirements:<ul><li>High School Diploma. Two-year college degree preferred.</li><li>2–4 years of experience in volunteer management, nonprofit programming, or community engagement.</li><li>Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (verbally and in writing).</li><li>Experience with data analysis and reporting.</li><li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.</li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with volunteer management software is a plus.</li><li>Flexibility to work evenings and weekends during peak season.</li><li>Possess reliable transportation.&nbsp;</li></ul>General Physical Requirements for Essential Functions of the Job:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Purpose of Position:&nbsp;Northeast Florida is home to over 425,000 active-duty servicemembers, veterans, and their families, representing nearly 25% of all households. Their needs are diverse, and navigating available services can be challenging. Basic referrals often fall short. This role provides peer-based care coordination to help veterans access and sustain the support they need.The Veteran Care Coordinator (VCC) is a veteran-peer and system of care navigator. The VCC works closely with veterans, military servicemembers, and their families who require comprehensive community support services, ensuring they receive the necessary assistance to overcome barriers.&nbsp; Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:&nbsp;<ul><li>Utilize strong customer service, interpersonal, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills to de-escalate complex situations and ensure timely coordination of veteran care.</li><li>Handle service requests from Veterans, their families, and community partners.</li><li>Assess eligibility based on criteria, capacity, location, and client preferences.</li><li>Create client care plans addressing individual needs.</li><li>Collaborate with veterans to facilitate direct referrals to appropriate treatment or service providers.</li><li>Maintain accurate and timely records in case management systems, analyze data to identify service gaps, and inform decision-making for veterans.</li><li>Stay connected with clients throughout the navigation process, conduct follow-ups, and measure outcomes.</li><li>Use appropriate approaches, and best practices for clients experiencing personal crisis, including mental health issues via telephone conversations.</li><li>Consult with Mission United Manager on unique cases, process improvements, service provider performance, and trends.</li><li>Develop and maintain relationships with social service partners to assist veterans.</li><li>Work with other Veteran Care Coordinator and other departments to advance goals and objectives of United Way and Mission United.</li><li>Engage in community and agency outreach activities, providing information to increase awareness of veteran services.</li><li>Execute additional tasks as directed by the Manager of Mission United.</li></ul>Experience/Qualifications:&nbsp;<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree preferred.&nbsp;</li><li>U.S. military Veteran required.</li><li>Knowledge of Veterans Administration (VA) programs, Veteran and community social services highly desirable.</li><li>Experience working with the Veteran population.</li><li>Required to achieve certification as a Florida Veterans Support Line (FVSL) Recovery Peer Specialist within 18 months of hire date.</li><li>Expertise in providing quality customer service.</li><li>Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.</li><li>Skilled at tracking, managing data, and grant compliance.</li><li>Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.&nbsp;</li><li>Proficient working well in teams and contributing to a positive work culture.</li><li>Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computer equipment, phones, various software programs.</li><li>Ability to build relationships with and collaborate with community partners.&nbsp;</li><li>Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.&nbsp;</li><li>Keep all activities in line with the core values of United Way of NE Florida.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>Actively participate in broader organizational activities and be a brand steward within the community, outside agencies and/or programs to enhance United Way services to the community.&nbsp;</li><li>Flexibility to work variable shifts within a hybrid, remote environment.&nbsp; &nbsp;</li><li>Ability to pass and maintain a Level 2 background check is required.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>Must pass pre-employment drug screening&nbsp;</li><li>Staff members who drive a vehicle on UWNEFL business must provide proof of a valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li></ul>Preferred Experience:<ul><li>Certified as a Florida Veterans Support Line (FVSL) Recovery Peer Specialist</li></ul>General Physical Requirements for Essential Functions of the Job:&nbsp;The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
