 Job Title: Program Manager, Education Reporting To: Director, United for Student Success 

 Department: United for Student Success Position: Full-time/EXEMPT 

 
Purpose of Position 
The Program Manager holds a crucial role in advancing Orange County United Way’s (OCUW) mission 
and the United for Students Success (U4SS) Initiative goals. This involves actively contributing to the 
systematic increase of the high school graduation rate to 95% among students from disadvantaged 
socio-economic backgrounds. The manager oversees the day-to-day administration of grant-related 
activities, with a specific focus on delivering college and career awareness and preparation services to a 
cohort of 7th-12th grade students in Orange County middle and high schools. Additionally, the role 
includes active participation in identifying and cultivating potential funding opportunities. Collaborating 
closely with the U4SS Executive Director and Director, the Education Programs Manager provides 
leadership by training, coaching, and managing staff. The position also requires a critical evaluation of 
grant outcomes and objectives to ensure the continued success and impact of the programs. 
 
This is a one-year grant-funded position and is full-time (37.5 hours/week). 
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities 
The individual in this role will assume diverse responsibilities under the guidance of the 
U4SS Director, encompassing coaching, program management, and collaboration with 
other departments. The following key duties and responsibilities outline the core 
functions associated with this position, subject to adjustment at the discretion of the 
U4SS Director: 

 • Work collaboratively with the Business Development and Education Program 
Managers to deliver youth programming. 

 • Coach and support U4SS Program Specialist(s) and assist staff in executing 
program activities and events. 

 • Lead, implement, and manage Destination Graduation and Youth Career 
Connections programs and initiatives. 

o Coordinate program logistics, outreach, and evaluation efforts. 
o Assign, track and troubleshoot tasks to successfully meet deadlines and 

objectives. 
o Demonstrate an understanding and practice of the principles 

of positive youth development in program development and 
implementation. 

 • Work closely with the U4SS Executive Director and Director to refine Education Department

 • Provide support to the U4SS Team, various Initiatives including Destination Graduation and 

Youth Career Connections as necessary. 
o Manage meetings with various partners related to any of the educational initiatives. 
o Conduct presentations on educational initiatives to internal United Way staff, 

corporate partners, educational partners, students, parents, and teachers. 
o Oversee coordination of college interns, as necessary 
o Oversee the outreach and recruitment of volunteers into various educational initiatives. 
o Manage aspects of event planning and coordination of educational events on a 

quarterly basis. 
o Update corporate, education, and agency list of corporate partners on CRM 

software 
o Coordinate support for various U4SS Education Initiatives (i.e., corresponding 

sub- committees, campaigns, and special projects) 
o Participate in and provide strategic planning to the U4SS Leadership Committee with 

U4SS Directors 
o Coordinate U4SS meetings and follow-up tasks (i.e., lead communication and 

coordination efforts, compose and distribute meeting notes to committee

 • Develop and manage budgets for programs, ensuring efficient use of resources.

Purpose of PositionWe are redefining workforce development in Orange County and looking for a creative, collaborative, and goal-oriented team member to help lead this charge! The Orange County United Way (OCUW) is hiring a Workforce Program Manager to oversee all business development efforts aimed at linking our college and career readiness programs to partner schools and serve students, in collaboration with the Orange County Department of Education and other workforce partners. This position will provide overdose prevention education, naloxone distribution and education on naloxone use to Broward community residents.Primary Job Responsibilities and Duties:&nbsp;<ul><li>Develops and distributes educational materials that include information on overdose prevention, the use of naloxone and safe injection practices.&nbsp;</li><li>Distributes educational materials to Broward County residents at six outreach events and 24 sites in zip codes targeting one (or more) of the priority population(s).&nbsp;</li><li>Provides training on naloxone use and distribute naloxone to&nbsp;Broward County residents.&nbsp;</li><li>Works within the Commission’s Comprehensive Community Action Plan, implementing Information Dissemination, Educational Trainings, Alternative Strategies, Environmental Strategies and Community-Based Process.&nbsp;</li><li>Establishes both formal and informal alliances with organizations which have similar or allied goals, such as the School Board, local law enforcement, health care providers, community centers, and service providers.&nbsp;</li></ul>.Other Job Duties:&nbsp;<ul><li>Documents the number of naloxone doses and number of educational materials distributed at each event and each distribution site and give each corresponding invoice to the grant funder.&nbsp;</li><li>Distributes educational materials to individuals at a minimum of 24 sites located in the following zip codes 33064, 33060, 33311, 33316, 33020, 33063, 33069, 33309, 33308, 33313, 33312, 33021, each quarter throughout the contract term.</li><li>Responsible for tracking performance measures for deliverables in accordance with grant.&nbsp;</li><li>Meet with and enlist key local stakeholders, coalitions, and service providers to promote the goals of the United Way Commission on Behavioral Health and Drug Prevention</li><li>Organizes, coordinates or assists in the organization of activities, such as the Annual Behavioral Health Conference, Health/Community Fairs, Town Hall meetings, Broward Youth Coalition activities, Commission task forces and other events to support prevention awareness consistent with the Community Action Plan.&nbsp;</li><li>Responsible for completing all mandatory support documentation and data entry which follows contract requirements for timeliness and accuracy.</li><li>Responsible for prompt compliance with all Commission on Behavioral Health and Drug Prevention and/or United Way of Broward regulations and requirements.</li><li>Maintains productivity requirement and expected billable units per week.</li><li>Responsible and accountable for attendance at Commission Meetings supervision meetings, and audit preparation meetings.</li><li>Serves as a customer service role model to ensure a positive relationship in interactions with all participants, volunteers, the community, and peers.</li><li>Perform duties as needed and/or requested to support and maintain accreditation standards and continuous quality improvement of the Commission on Behavioral Health and Drug Prevention and United Way of Broward County.</li><li>Must be able to work evenings/weekends and maintain reliable transportation.</li><li>Must be able to be at work consistently with regular attendance and punctuality and be willing and able to handle all the duties and responsibilities of this position daily.</li><li>Responds appropriately and effectively to the diversity of co-workers, consumers and stakeholders.&nbsp;</li><li>Takes responsibility for other assignments as they arise in the development of UWBC’s Commission activities.</li><li>Coordinates planning and requests from other Divisions that relate to UWBC’s Commission.</li><li>Due to the leadership role United Way is called upon to play in the community, particularly during times of crisis, it is the expectation that all United Way staff will be fully engaged in the organization's crisis plan and response efforts.</li></ul>Supervises: &nbsp;Volunteers if applicableEducation &amp; Experience:&nbsp;Combination of education and experience represented by:<ul><li>Bachelor's degree and/or at least 4 years’ experience working in the Mental Health and Substance Abuse related field.&nbsp;</li><li>Experience in Human Services Substance Abuse/Mental Health, community organization, program outreach and training facilitation, required.</li><li>Certified Prevention Professional, preferred.</li><li>Administrative &amp; Supervisory experience working with volunteers.&nbsp;</li><li>High Proficiency required in Microsoft office products like Excel and other related computer programs.</li><li>Strong organizational, customer service and interpersonal skills are required.</li><li>Will be required to drive to various outreach locations in Broward County. Prevention Outreach Specialist
