Purpose of Position 
The Manager, Public Affairs will work with federal, state, and local elected officials and their offices to 
generate awareness and support for the policy agenda of Orange County United Way (OCUW). The 
incumbent is responsible for working with OCUW staff, consultants, volunteers, coalitions, and partner 
organizations to build support for OCUW policy priorities and to integrate advocacy messaging into 
relevant OCUW programs and events. 
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities 
 • Strategically coordinate efforts to maintain good governmental relations and further the public policy 

priorities of OCUW. 
 • Provide regular advocacy briefings for senior OCUW staff and volunteer leadership. 
 • Schedule/coordinate meetings with elected leaders, their staff, and other government officials to gain 

support for OCUW’s advocacy priorities. 
 • Create briefing materials for OCUW leadership to prepare for meetings and conduct appropriate 

follow-up actions. 
 • Maintain a current contact list of elected officials and their staff across Orange County. 
 • Monitor federal, state, and local legislative issues of concern to OCUW and maintain current

activities as needed to advance OCUW’s policy agenda. 
 • Participate in coalition-building efforts and collaborative partnerships to leverage opportunities that 

advance OCUW’s policy priorities. 
 • Provide staff support to the volunteer OCUW advocacy committee; collaborate with the advocacy 

committee to develop policy priorities and track progress/activities related to priorities. 
 • Represent OCUW with United Ways of California and United Way Worldwide advocacy coalitions; 

support 211CA efforts in conjunction with 211OC leadership. 
 • Support volunteer recruitment, retention, and mobilization efforts. 
 • Coordinate and provide support materials for state/federal advocacy days and/or local in-district 

meetings. 
 • Collaborate with communications/marketing staff on media related to advocacy efforts. 
 • Provides advocacy presentations and training opportunities to volunteers and staff. 
 • Attend and participate in relevant OCUW meetings throughout the year, including staff training, state-

level meetings with staff partners, and board meetings as required.

The Parent Educator contributes to the achievement of United Way of El Paso County’s (UWEPC) mission, vision, and Education Community Impact goals by addressing a key strategy: family home visitation programs.&nbsp; The Program Manger’s responsibility is to successfully deliver the Parents as Teachers program, an evidence-based early childhood home visitation framework that builds strong communities, thriving families and children who are healthy, safe and ready to learn.

	KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Parents as Teachers (PAT) Parent Educator delivers the essential PAT program functions, to include:
<ul><li>Preparing for and conducting monthly or bi-monthly home visits, including home visits with reoccurring access to vulnerable populations, which will require 27 to 35 visits per month</li>
<li>Partner with families to improve well-being, reflect with families regarding parenting styles, and facilitate discussions and play activities to foster healthy development</li>
<li>Planning and conducting group connections and family appreciation events</li>
<li>Conducting screenings and assessments for parents and children</li>
<li>Utilizing identified resources available to provide family support</li>
</ul>Administrative Compliance for Parents as Teachers
<ul><li>Complete data entry in two electronic databases including Penelope (PAT) and Extended Reach.</li>

<li>Complete daily timesheets, staff weekly and monthly reports, monthly mileage and expense reports by set deadlines.</li>
<li>Participate in monthly reflective and administrative supervision sessions.</li>
<li>Recruit families to maintain a full caseload by conducting presentations in small or large groups.</li>
<li>Request donations and incentives for active participants in the Parents as Teachers (PAT) program.</li>
</ul>Professional Development
<ul><li>Complete at least 20 hours of professional development each year to maintain Parents as Teachers credential.</li>

PURPOSE OF POSITION 

The Associate Director, Major Gifts will be expected to build and manage a portfolio of $10,000 - 
$100,000 Orange County United Way donors and advance prospects with the potential to make six-figure 
gifts to support our work. 
 
Responsible for managing and cultivating relationships with existing major gift donors and prospects, as 
well as identifying new prospects. An ability to empathize with donors and clearly communicate our 
organization’s mission is key. This position is expected to energize volunteers and donors, and persuade 
prospects to engage with our giving programs. The Associate Director will bring an accomplished track 
record of establishing and growing major giving programs. This position reports to the Chief Philanthropy

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

 • Secure major gifts at the $10,000 to $100,000 level with the goal of raising $1.5 to $2 million 
annually within two years. 

 • Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gift prospects that meet and exceed all 
activity metrics and revenue goals. 

 • Help our donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions through a relationship with 
our organization. 

 • Make direct, face-to-face solicitations, and assist the board and other volunteers and staff with 
their solicitations (e.g. provide portfolio development support, strategic counsel, and help with 
donor communications). 

 • Serve as the staff lead for select donor affinity groups, to be determined. 
 • Manage systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including our donor 

database and wealth screening tools. 
 • Manage a portfolio of 100 - 125 donors and prospects. 
 • Work with the supervisor annually to establish strategies and set goals. 
 • Meet weekly expectations for entry into donor database, completion of donor contact reports, 

donor meeting preparation, and ensuring that moves management plans are updated regularly. 
 • Acknowledge major donors through public and private recognition. 
 • Utilize and lead Associate executives, board members, and volunteers as natural partners in 

cultivating and soliciting gifts.

POSITION SUMMARY&nbsp;(Eligible for Hybrid/ 3 days in office - Alexandria, VA)The Director, Impact, Partnerships, and Policy Communications creates and executes integrated communications plans to support programs, government partnerships, and public policy work that advance the United Way network’s capacity to drive community impact at scale.&nbsp;KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES<ul><li>Creation and management of communications plans:&nbsp;Create and execute communications plans to advance United Way’s 211 network, government partnerships, and public policy work, as well as supporting areas of work, including community resiliency and disaster response.&nbsp;</li><li>Content development: In service to UWW’s integrated content strategy, source, draft, and/or edit internal- and external-facing content related to United Way’s four impact areas (Healthy Community, Financial Security, Youth Opportunity, and Community Resiliency), government partnerships that drive impact work, and public policy priorities that support United Way’s impact agenda.</li><li>Writing and editing:&nbsp;Develop marketing and communications materials such as impact stories, scripts, direct emails, intranet and website content, social media content, toolkits, fact sheets, FAQs, PowerPoint presentations, and other tools as needed.</li><li>Event communications:&nbsp;lead communications for all events related to relevant subject matter areas, including Advocacy Forum and 211 Forum.&nbsp;</li><li>Data, analytics and insights:&nbsp;Understand programmatic data and ensure appropriate integration of data points into Marketing and communications efforts. Analyze performance of communications and relevant tools/assets to inform future approaches to communications strategies.</li><li>Organization and project management: Ensure consistent excellence in work quality and accountability for multiple deadlines through clear project management practices, including use of tools for project sequencing (Smartsheet) and collaboration (Microsoft Teams).</li><li>Relationship building: Foster strong professional relationships with colleagues within UWW and across the network, and partner to ensure alignment with UWW’s marketing and communications strategies and messages.&nbsp;</li><li>Brand stewardship: Champion the global United Way brand and drive network adoption of brand messaging, guidelines, marketing assets and related tools and learnings to ensure consistency and effectiveness. Director, Impact, Partnerships & Policy Communications

PURPOSE:&nbsp; To contribute to the attainment of United Way of York County’s mission and vision by providing complete and accurate financial and accounting systems and reports, raising awareness of the financial position of the organization, in addition to adding value and engaging staff by administering human resources functions and high-level support to the organization’s operations.Key Functions&nbsp;&nbsp;Finance:<ul><li>Manage the day-to-day operations of the financial and accounting systems for all operating and reserve funds adhering to Generally Accepted Practices (GAP)</li><li>Position United Way of York County as a fiscally sound organization through consistent application and review of policies and procedures</li><li>Ensure organizational compliance with all
