We are a convener, bringing together community leaders, local governments, other funders,non-profits, and stakeholders, to collaborate and coordinate our efforts to effectively address our most complicatedsocial issues.The organization serves as the fiscal sponsor for local organizations, including South Coast Health Equity Coalitionand Southern Oregon Coast Pride.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe major responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:Community ImpactThe Executive Director is responsible for the overall impact of United Way of Southwestern Oregon (UWSO) on thecommunity, with emphasis on increasing its capacity to drive the impact agenda. The Executive Director worksclosely with the Board to craft and adapt strategy to achieve increased impact, including raising the funds tosupport it. They will establish and build relationships with top leaders in the community, including thoserepresenting business, government, and non-profit sectors.Resource DevelopmentThe Executive Director is charged to drive key results in fundraising; to identify, cultivate, and solicit prospectivedonors and partners; to leverage personal and professional contacts and relationships into fundraisingopportunities; to promote a culture of fundraising in the organization, both at the staff and board level.Strategic ManagementThe Executive Director serves as the principal resource to the Board of Directors and its key committees and givesstrong direction in policy formulation and interpretation. They partner with the Board of Directors to craftorganizational goals and develop strategies to ensure that they are achieved.Organizational ManagementThe Executive Director is accountable for building and leading high-performing teams, ensuring all teams arealigned and collaborating to achieve results. They maintain accountability for the operational and fiscal integrity ofthe organization within policies set by the Board of Directors. They oversee the UWSWO’s fiscal sponsorships,providing fiduciary oversight, financial management, and other administrative services as required. The ExecutiveDirector assesses organizational capacity to implement strategies and identify gaps in systems and managesorganizational spending, monitors budget compliance, and mitigates financial risks; and ensures that United Way ofSouthwestern Oregon goals of inclusiveness and diversity among staff and volunteers are met.REQUIREMENTS5 years of management experience in a non-profit, corporate, or public sector organization which included the.coordination of leadership, partnership building, and collaboration. Experience working with a Board of Directors ispreferred.Oregon driver’s license.Work authorization: United StatesDemonstrates broad knowledge, passion and perspective regarding Coos and Curry counties’ community issues andthe unique role that United Way plays in building a positive, sustainable quality of life for all.Demonstrates the ability to communicate and effectively interact with people across cultures, ranges of ability,genders, ethnicities, and races. Demonstrates knowledge of the history of discrimination in America, particularly asit relates to race and racism, and how this history has led to disparities experienced by marginalized communitiessuch as BIPOC, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ communities, and others. Demonstrates the ability to successfullydeliver culturally responsive services.Ability to support the development and communication of a compelling and inspired vision among BoardMembers, donors, staff, volunteers, service providers, business leaders and the community.Demonstrates strong listening, writing, public speaking and presentation skills.WORKING ENVIRONMENT40 hours per week requiring occasional evening and weekend work.Hybrid work environment. Remote workers will be provided reasonable accommodation for home office setup.This position is expected to travel regularly to meetings in Coos and Curry Counties.Demonstrates proven fiscal management and responsibility to properly oversee an organization’s budget and buildtrust in the organization’s ability to act as a reliable steward of its finances.Demonstrates the Ability to manage multiple fiscal sponsorships and organizational partnerships.Demonstrates drive for accomplishment and getting results through strong leadership and collaboration.
