Summary: The President/CEO is responsible for United Way of St. Joseph County’s

CEO will manage the entire operation of UWSJC within the guidelines of the annual

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Strategic 

 • Provide vision and strategic insight to the Board for fulfilling the mission of the

warrant their attention and best practices on organizational management and 
leadership. 

 • Identify issues and policies that require the action of the Board. 
 • Develop board meetings that allow the members to fulfill their operational 

responsibilities, but also to provide the opportunity for strategic discussion on 
organizational imperatives. 

Administrative and Management 

 • Establish a culture which ensures that the organization attracts and retains the 
talent necessary to successfully carry out its programs and mission. 


 • Manage staff assuring that adequate training, support, and resources are in 
place to achieve goals with a focus on a coaching culture. 

 • Ensure that the organization operates within the financial parameters set by the 
Board, and that available resources are distributed appropriately.

Neighborhood Center Initiative (NCI) Leadership 

 • Convene and lead collective impact work around the Neighborhood Centers 
owned by UWSJC. 

 • Proactively manage capital investment in and expenses of the Neighborhood 
Center Initiative (NCI) to ensure construction budgets and timelines are met. 

 • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress and meet 
deadlines related to the construction process. 

 • Communicate with UWSJC leadership and key Neighborhood Center partners to 
keep the project aligned with goals and priorities of the NCI. 

 • Ensure operational efficiency which includes reviewing budgets and financial 
projections and adjusting as needed at each unique Neighborhood Center 
location. 

 • Develop and implement strategies, procedures and business plans needed to 
enhance continued growth of the NCI.

POSITION OVERVIEW 

The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) leads the strategic vision for United Way of 

Forsyth County’s marketing and communications efforts, shaping how we engage 

with the community, amplify our brand, and tell the story of our impact. As a key 

member of the senior leadership team, the CMO collaborates across departments 

and with external partners to develop marketing initiatives that inspire action - 

whether through volunteering, attending events, or contributing financially.

<h2>POSITION OVERVIEW:</h2>The United Way of Massachusetts Bay (UWMB) seeks a proven, effective fundraising leader who will champion our organization's work building stronger, more equitable communities across the region. Reporting to and partnering with the CEO, the Chief Development Officer (CDO) will lead a robust effort to increase and diversify revenue and raise $50 million annually to meet the organization's operational goals and community investments. The ideal leader will bring extensive senior-level fundraising experience and a demonstrated track record of success in driving significant philanthropic outcomes. Equally important, this leader will be hands-on, ready to engage in the day-to-day work required to build and sustain a high-performing development function within an organization of this scale.The CDO builds robust relationships working closely with the board, volunteers, colleagues, and constituents to articulate and achieve ambitious goals. The CDO has exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to represent the United Way effectively to diverse audiences. Along with the above, they will be a leader who shares the United Way's commitment to working with action and intention while listening to and respecting the voices of the most marginalized communities we serve.<h2>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:</h2>An accomplished fundraiser, the CDO will lead and manage a team of 15+ professionals responsible for raising at least $50 million annually. This will include strengthening current efforts to produce increased revenue and implementing new approaches to fundraising that are still in their earliest stages at the organization.
