United Way of Broward County fights for the Health, Education and Financial Prosperity of EVERY person in our community.General Description: In collaboration with the Major Gifts team, the Major Gifts Officer (MGO) will be responsible for helping United Way of Broward County (UWBC) reach its fundraising goals by identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts. MGO will work closely with the Director, Major Gifts (DMG) to cultivate donors and prospects within the Major Gifts revenue streams: transformational giving, major gifts of $10k plus, planned giving, foundations, and capital campaign.&nbsp; In addition, the MGO will develop strong Donor Relations through individual and collective outreach, communication, and events to ensure retention and promote increased giving.&nbsp; Responsibilities will also include supporting the coordination and leadership of the Major Gift and Legacy committees.&nbsp; A portfolio of major gift donors and prospects must be individually maintained.Primary Job Responsibilities &amp; Duties:&nbsp;<ul><li>Implement overall Major Gifts strategy developed by DMG.</li><li>Identify, engage and re-engage donors, particularly those emerging as the next generation of potential philanthropic leaders.</li><li>Conduct individually tailored, one-on-one cultivation and solicitation meetings and work with appropriate volunteers to strategize and manage their cultivation and solicitation of targeted donors.</li><li>Identify and solicit new major gifts.&nbsp;</li><li>Connect United Way Staff and Board of Directors to new and/or prospective Tocqueville Society members.</li><li>Cultivate, steward and build trusted relationships with a portfolio of major donors and prospective major donors and legacy giving prospects to generate new and increased giving.</li><li>Effectively develop, organize, manage, support and motivate a volunteer team to aid in the identification, cultivation and solicitation of high capacity donors and prospective donors.</li><li>Partner with Major Gift and Development colleagues, for identification of prospects</li><li>Develop meaningful ways to engage major gift donors and prospects throughout the year including personal visits, executing unique events and volunteer opportunities to connect our members to the work United Way is doing in Broward County.</li><li>Create and implement a stewardship and recognition plan, including thanking donors, events and leadership registry.</li></ul>Other Job Duties:&nbsp;<ul><li>Maintains confidentiality of all materials, and uses judgment and tact in dealing with internal and external inquiries.</li><li>Understand the United Way of Broward concept, mission, purpose, philosophy and background to handle routine calls from public in an effective and diplomatic way.</li><li>Develops and maintains good working relationships with staff, board members, major donors, volunteers, agency representatives, and guests of the DMG.</li><li>Plans and prioritizes work to meet scheduled deadlines; adjusts personal schedule to assure completion of tasks, assignments, etc.</li><li>Works only under general supervision; uses discretion and judgment in the performance of daily duties.</li><li>Exhibits leadership and initiative in work habits and adhering to UWBC policies.</li><li>Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the DMG.</li><li>Due to the leadership role United Way is called upon to play in the community, particularly during times of crisis, it is the expectation that all United Way staff will be fully engaged in the organization's crisis plan and response efforts.</li></ul>Education &amp; United Way Miami, Inc. is hiring a&nbsp;Senior Director, Major Giftsto join our team. As&nbsp;Senior Director, Major Giftsyou will Develop and build relationships in the community to address the health and human service needs of the community through United Way Miami. &nbsp;Focus on fundraising for both annual and Endowment campaigns from individuals who can make gifts of $100,000 or more.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul><li>Ensures that all Tocqueville Society gifts are accounted for during the fiscal year.</li>
<li>Manages relationships with approximately 100-125 prospective and current donors who can make major/planned gifts of $100,000 or more. Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward same.
<ul><li>Participates in all aspects of the gift cycle: 
				&nbsp;- Initiate contacts with potential leadership and major gift donors 
				&nbsp;- Develop appropriate cultivation strategies for them, including working with volunteers 
				&nbsp;- Moves potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure 
				&nbsp;- Makes solicitations when appropriate 
				&nbsp;- Maintains stewardship contacts with donors; adheres to the highest ethical standards; demonstrates empathetic disposition, and perseverance; reflects optimistic and positive attitude, and conveys sensitivity to the needs of the donors</li>
</ul></li>
<li>Participates in 15-20 donor meetings a month.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Works collaboratively with and in support of volunteers, other development staff, and other United Way staff to achieve the needs of the prospects.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Participates in prospect management meetings to ensure coordination of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Attends United Way events as well as outside events for United Way representation, networking, etc.</li>
<li>Responsible for soliciting gifts of $100,000 and higher from individuals&nbsp;</li>
<li>Collaborate with the Development Officers to identify major and planned gift prospects within an account to create, cultivate, and solicit donors.</li>
</ul>&nbsp;Education Requirements:&nbsp; Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s preferred.&nbsp;
&nbsp;Experience Requirements:&nbsp; Five years of experience in individual fundraising with a track record of closing major gifts in education, the human services area preferred.
&nbsp;Technology Requirements:&nbsp;Internet Explorer, Word, Excel, Outlook, Andar (database) and Takes the responsibility to learn &amp; use technology to increase one’s own productivity and keep technical skills up to date. &nbsp; Maintains accurate and current data files.
Other Essential Knowledge/Skills:&nbsp;Public speaking, understanding of people, ability to adapt to changing situations, ability to understand and analyze industry trends, sales ability, computer skills, basic math skills, and negotiation skills. &nbsp;The Spanish language is not a requirement but helpful.
