work.  &nbsp;</li></ul>Purpose of Position:&nbsp;An Accountantperforms a variety of duties such as timely and accurate data entry and payment processing of company’s payables, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, assisting with audits and budgeting processes, and completing various reporting requirements while adhere with company’s internal policies and procedures. &nbsp;Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:&nbsp;<ul><li>Adherence to GAAP, best practices</li><li>Prepare monthly, recurring, and correcting journal entries</li><li>Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations</li><li>Support month-end and year-end close</li><li>Assists with budgeting process and audit fieldwork for external audits</li><li>Review data, identify errors through analysis, research, and interpretation of data, and provide recommendations to VP of Finance and/or Program Manager in determining corrective action</li><li>Work closely with department staff</li><li>Maintain and document internal accounting controls as required by Federal, state and local grantors to ensure appropriate use of public funds</li><li>Assist in development and implementation of administrative, program and subcontract budgets</li><li>Monitor and manage dedicated AP inbox</li><li>Enter and post invoices, grant request, expense reimbursements, allocation and designation payouts, and other payables into accounting system</li><li>Confirm proper GL coding of such entries and attach relative support and approvals</li><li>Generate and process monthly designation payouts&nbsp;</li><li>Process payment requests in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to financial policies and procedures</li><li>Investigate and resolve problems associated with processing of AP&nbsp;</li><li>Maintain and ensure accuracy of vendor files/records (name, address, W-9, ACH information, etc.)</li><li>Verify and investigate discrepancies, if any, by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly vendor statements</li><li>Establish and maintain relationships with new and existing vendors</li><li>Assist during the annual external audit</li><li>Prepare supporting documents/vendor records for tax return preparation</li><li>Prepare and file annual forms 1099&nbsp;</li><li>Perform other such duties as may be assigned by the supervisory team&nbsp;</li><li>These required</li><li>Knowledge and understanding of GAAP (General Accepted Accounting Principles)</li><li>At least 2 years of proven experience in the similar role</li><li>Experience with Fund Accounting preferred</li><li>United Way or similar nonprofit experience is preferred</li><li>Public accounting experience a plus</li><li>Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PPP and Word for Windows</li><li>Strong proficiency in accounting software applications (Net Suite preferred) and experience with CRM software a plus</li><li>Self-starter with the ability to prioritize work and outline the steps necessary to complete a project</li><li>Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adapt readily to changes</li><li>Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail</li><li>Flexibility to handle several on-going projects</li><li>Ability to work effectively under stress and maintain productivity and composure under pressure</li><li>Effectively prioritizes work and establishes clear goals in coordination with supervisor&nbsp;</li><li>Excellent research and analytical skills</li><li>Proactive to identify and resolve problems</li><li>Ability to work
