You will work closely with the board of directors, community partners, staff, and volunteers to advance the organization's mission of improving lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities. The CEO will have theoverall responsibility for the management, growth, and impact of United Way's operations and programs.<h2>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</h2>Essential job duties and responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.<h2>Key Responsibilities</h2>Strategic Leadership:<ul><li>With the Board of Directors, develop and implement a long-term strategic plan to guide the organization's direction, ensuring alignment with United Way's mission and values.</li><li>Identify emerging trends, issues, and opportunities in the nonprofit sector and community development to drive innovation and create positive social change.</li><li>Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and transparency among staff, volunteers, partners, and stakeholders.</li></ul>Organizational Management:<ul><li>Oversee all aspects of United Way's operations, including finance, human resources, fundraising, marketing, and program delivery, ensuring effective and efficient utilization of resources.</li><li>Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing team of professionals, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to maximize their potential.</li><li>Establish performance metrics and accountability systems to measure progress and ensure the achievement of organizational goals and objectives.</li><li>Resource Development and Fundraising:</li><li>Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to secure financial resources necessary for the organization's sustainability and growth.</li><li>Cultivate and maintain relationships with major donors, corporations, foundations, government agencies, and community leaders to enhance fundraising efforts.</li><li>Actively engage in donor stewardship, ensuring effective communication, recognition, and appreciation of their contributions.</li></ul>Community Engagement and Advocacy:<ul><li>Serve as the primary spokesperson and advocate for United Way, effectively communicating the organization's mission, impact, and value proposition to the community, media, and key stakeholders.</li><li>Build and strengthen strategic partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, nonprofits, and businesses to address community needs and maximize United Way's impact.</li><li>Engage in public policy discussions and advocacy efforts to influence systemic change and create a more equitable society.</li></ul>Governance and Board Relations:<ul><li>Collaborate with the board of directors to establish strategic priorities, policies, and governance frameworks that align with United Way's mission and uphold ethical standards.</li><li>Provide regular reports, updates, and recommendations to the board, ensuring transparency and accountability in organizational performance.</li><li>Support board development and engagement, including recruitment, orientation, and ongoing education of board members.</li></ul><h2>EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS</h2><ul><li>A Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred.</li><li>5 years of executive leadership experience, preferably within the nonprofit sector, demonstrating a track record of driving organizational growth, impact, and financial sustainability.</li><li>Strong strategic thinking and visionary leadership abilities, with the capacity to inspire and motivate diverse stakeholders.</li><li>Excellent communication skills, including public speaking, media relations, and effective storytelling to convey United Way's mission and impact.</li><li>Proven experience in fundraising and resource development, including major gift solicitation, corporate partnerships, and grant writing.</li><li>Sound financial acumen, experience in budget development, financial management, and reporting.</li><li>Knowledge of community development, social issues, and public policy advocacy.</li></ul><h2>UNITED WAY CORE COMPETENCIES FOR ALL STAFF&nbsp;</h2><ol><li>Mission-Focused: Catalyze others’ commitment to mission to create real social change that leads to better lives and healthier communities. United Way Serving Howard and Tipton Counties Seeks President & CEO; Leadership / Executive Board | Full time | 5 - 10 years of experience $81,000 to $90,000 per year

United Way of Greater Cincinnati (UWGC) fights for the economic well-being of all people in Greater Cincinnati so our entire community can thrive – now and in the future. The Public Policy and Advocacy Manager is integral to UWGC’s policy and advocacy work across UWGC’s nine-county, three-state region. As a leading convenor and philanthropic investor, UWGC strengthens systems supporting family well-being. Through policy and advocacy, we can achieve short- and long-term wins that make systems work for families.
The Public Policy and Advocacy Manager will provide strategic leadership and daily management of efforts that advance our local, state and federal policy agenda while also building the advocacy capacity of our staff, volunteers and partners.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
<ul><li>Provide day-to-day support for staff, volunteers and partners to influence policy at national, state and local levels.</li>
<li>Track identified legislative and public policy priorities and update UWGC staff and volunteers on status changes.</li>
<li>Collaborate with the director to identify and create strategies for calls to action with UWGC constituencies.</li>
<li>Build advocacy capacity of UWGC staff, volunteers and partners through professional development, convenings and issue education.</li>
<li>Support relationships with existing and new community partners, coalition members and lawmakers.</li>
<li>Represent UWGC at coalitions, conferences, task forces and legislative meetings.</li>
<li>Use UWGC messaging and message frames to prepare action alerts, talking points and testimony, issue briefs, letters, press statements, opinion editorials, website updates, blogs, and legislative and public policy reports.</li>
<li>Stay informed of national best practices and trends and provides strategic advice about how to integrate into UWGC’s public policy and advocacy work.</li>
<li>Monitor program quality and impact and creates reports.</li>
<li>Manage projects and collaborations with internal and external stakeholders.</li>
<li>Work to grow UWGC’s advocacy network.</li>
<li>Organize and execute advocacy events and initiatives.</li>
<li>Together with the Public Policy and Advocacy Director, support the UWGC Public Policy Committee.</li>
</ul>Minimum Qualifications:
<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree and at least three years’ full-time, professional work experience with significant responsibilities. Education cannot substitute for work experience.</li>
<li>Team orientation, ambition, and a strong work ethic.</li>
<li>Willing to work weekends and evenings and travel throughout Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana as necessary.</li>
<li>Access to a car, possession of a valid driver’s license, and proof of current automobile insurance.</li>
