Salary:  $55,000.00 to $65,000.00

JOB SUMMARY

Trident United Way is seeking a talented, self-directed Digital Media and Design Specialist to super-charge graphic design representation of our global and local brand, digital presence, website and email marketing communications efforts. This position will manage 2 websites for the organization, format graphics for various applications and platforms, to show who we are as a brand and to amplify the work and outcomes of the organization. The Digital Media & Design Specialist is responsible for communication efforts that inspire and motivate stakeholders to give, advocate and volunteer toward the achievement of Trident United Way’s mission, vision and goals.

The primary areas of focus for the Digital Media & Design Specialist are:

  1. Project Management -- 20%
  2. Graphics and Design -- 30%
  3. Email Communications/System --20%
  4. Website and online presence -- 20%
  5. Miscellaneous duties including internal meetings -- 10%




ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Function 1: Project Management
Serves as the organizational lead for Digital Media and Graphics work on behalf of Trident United Way and its associated initiatives. Collaboration with members of TUW staff, volunteers, community partners and other stakeholders will be deeply incorporated in successful fulfillment of this essential function. This includes but is not limited to: Creating project plans, setting the schedule including key milestones and deadlines, executing the project plan, monitoring project process, problem solving for any issues that arise, ensure stakeholder(s) input is incorporated and evaluation of project performance and outcomes.


Essential Function 2: Graphics and Design
Manages all communications project requests submitted that contain graphic design work, graphic creation and graphic editing while adhering to the United Way Worldwide Brand Standards and Guidelines. This includes but is not limited to: 1) ensuring project requests include enough detail and audience is clearly identified; 2) maintenance of the organizational Canva account filing system and other design asset management processes; and 3) serve as the liaison to outside graphic designer(s) and commercial printer vendor(s).


Essential Function 3: Email Marketing Communications/System
Serves as the organizational lead for the mass email tool managed and maintained by the communications department. This includes but is not limited to: 1) managing authorized users of mass email tool; 2) maintenance of contact lists and unsubscribe processes in the mass email software and ANDAR; 3) collaborate with Communications team creators/writers for written content in newsletters and other email types; 4) create/resize graphics for emails; and 5) coordinates schedule of email deployment with organizational priorities.


Essential Function 4: Website and Online Presence
Manages all aspects of website development and maintenance for tuw.org and healthytricounty.com as well as Google Business placements for TUW locations. This includes but is not limited to: 1) ensuring project requests for website updates include enough detail and audience is clearly identified; 2) maintenance and optimization of layout, navigation, graphics/photos and verbiage on the organizational websites including webforms; 3) creation of UTM codes for advertisements/QR code 4) tracking google analytics on websites for reporting, optimizing and action; and 5) serve as the liaison to website host/CMS provider.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Ensure consistent use of approved brand identity guidelines throughout organization and monitor application fidelity.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Communications and Events staff, share resources and work product for coordinated messages.
  • Coordinate assignments and assist in managing skilled volunteers and interns.
  • Perform other activities as assigned by the Vice President of Communications & Volunteer Engagement
  • Participates as a champion, project lead, and/or member of organizational development teams as required.
  • Complete Andar training as appropriate when offered.



QUALIFICATIONS

Education

 

  • Associate degree required with 5-7 years of experience focused on Communications, Graphic Design, Media Arts, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing preferred)

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of experience preferred (with focus on Communications, Graphic Design, Media Arts, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing preferred)



Experience

 

  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in a similar role
  • 3 years of project management experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with website content management system
  • Google Ad Words and Analytics Certified preferred.
  • Proficiency with mass email marketing system such as Mailchimp or Constant Contact
  • Experience with email list maintenance and CAN SPAM Compliance preferred.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF JOB

 

  • Exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects, within the office setting and relating to the position.
  • Must frequently use typical office equipment (telephone, multifunctional devices, postage meter, etc.)
  • Most of time spent sitting at desk.
  • Communicates with constituents, staff, volunteers, board members and/or partners by phone and in person.
  • Upon request and as necessary to fulfill job functions, may have to be mobile within the office and or travel to offsite locations


WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

  • This is a hybrid position. Primarily works in a climate-controlled office-based setting. The opportunity to work remotely two days a week is available.
