With its scenic landscapes, family-friendly environment, and active lifestyle, Coeur d’Alene is an inspiring place to live, work, and call home.Position OverviewThe Executive Director is the leader of the organization, establishing a vision for Community Impact representing five northern counties in Idaho that is achieved through the efforts of a diverse team of long-term staff, community volunteers, and a dedicated Board of Directors.&nbsp; The Executive Director is the Chief Mobilizer; s/he leverages the power of relationships and networks, and works across private, public, and corporate sectors to improve conditions in the community.&nbsp; To connect our communities’ needs and our resources, the Executive Director must be skilled in contemporary fundraising processes beyond the Annual Campaign. &nbsp;The Executive Director must be dedicated to shared and measurable goals for the common good – creating, resourcing, scaling, and leveraging strategies for broad investment and impact in programs like the ALICE Project and many programs focused on early learning and reading initiatives.The Executive Director is the steward of the brand and understands his/her role in growing and protecting the reputation of United Way. S/he is responsible for building trust in the United Way and its relevance in the community. S/he values network and strives to leverage United Way’s breadth of community presence, relationships, and strategy.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe major responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:Community Impact&nbsp;<ul><li>The Executive Director is responsible for the overall impact of United Way of North Idaho in the communities of the five counties we serve, with particular emphasis on increasing its financial capacity to drive the impact agenda.&nbsp; The Executive Director works closely with the Board to craft and adapt the strategy to achieve this increased impact, including raising the funds to support it.&nbsp; S/he will establish and build relationships with top leaders in the community, including those representing the highest levels in business, government, non-profit sectors, and high-wealth donors/organizations in and outside of the service area who share our vision.</li></ul>Resource Development&nbsp;<ul><li>The Executive Director is charged with driving key results in fundraising; to identify, cultivate, and solicit&nbsp;prospective donors and key leaders of prospective new corporate partners; to build and leverage personal and professional contacts and relationships into fundraising opportunities; and to promote a culture of fundraising in the organization, both at the staff and board level.</li></ul>Strategic Management<ul><li>The Executive Director serves as the principal resource to the Board of Directors and its key committees and gives strong direction in policy formulation and interpretation.&nbsp; S/he partners with the Board of Directors and the United Way of North Idaho’s staff to craft organizational goals and develop strategies to ensure that they are achieved.&nbsp;S/he ensures coordination and alignment of all United Way activities to the strategic direction of community impact, resource development, and staff alignment.</li></ul>Organization Management&nbsp;<ul><li>The Executive is accountable for building and leading high-performing teams, ensuring all teams are aligned and collaborating to achieve organizational results.&nbsp; S/he maintains accountability for the operational and fiscal integrity of the organization within policies set by the Board of Directors, as well as guiding organizational spending, monitoring budget compliance, and mitigating financial risks.&nbsp;&nbsp;The Executive Director assesses organizational capacity to implement strategies and identify gaps in systems and staffing. S/he directly supervises staff positions and establishes individual goals and ensures appropriate training, especially in the areas of financial development in today’s competitive market for funding.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;The Executive Director ensures that United Way of North Idaho's goals of inclusiveness and equity among staff and volunteers are met. S/he brings enthusiasm to acknowledge and celebrate the success of staff and volunteer attainment of goals.&nbsp;</li></ul>Experience/Position requirements<ul><li>Substantial (more than 5 years) leadership experience working in the non-profit sector. United Way experience is desirable but not required. Advanced interaction with volunteers and boards.
