The Director of Philanthropy initiates, cultivates, and stewards relationships with major donors. The Director of Philanthropy plans and coordinates all aspects of fund development in accordance with Rappahannock United Way’s mission and standard of excellence. Special emphasis is given to Tocqueville Society membership growth.  Responsibilities include providing leadership in all fundraising initiatives including special events, corporate gifts, major gifts, grants, planned giving and sponsorship acquisition. The Director of Philanthropy is responsible for formulating a funding strategy and executing a development plan which deepens the commitment of existing donors, increases the number of overall supporters and creates opportunities for all to contribute to Rappahannock United Way’s mission in practical and meaningful ways.

POSITION SUMMARY (Alexandria, VA onsite HYBRID)United Way Worldwide (UWW) has a new opening for an experienced PHP Full Stack Developer with expertise in Drupal who is capable of developing innovative, feature-rich professional websites and applications for UWW.  You should have exceptional programming skills, problem-solving abilities, and a strong work ethic. UWW allows for a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office. Additionally, you will be able to manage multiple tasks while delivering projects on time and within budget. Your role will drive UWW’s web-based, data-driven applications and the entire life cycle development of products used within United Way Worldwide's various websites. You should possess excellent communication skills, the ability to gather customer needs and requirements, and the ability to translate objectives for non-technical staff. The work further requires designing, developing, testing, debugging, and maintaining web applications. This is a hands-on position. To be successful in this role, you will minimally have mastery of Drupal 7/9/10 and PHP and CMS development.As a PHP Full Stack Developer you must be able to perform each essential duty listed below at a satisfactory level and be able to work on-site in Alexandria, VA on a hybrid basis:  <ul><li>PHP and CMS development  </li><li>Develop Drupal applications as needed by the organization. </li><li>Maintain and support enterprise-level applications developed in Drupal. </li><li>Assist with the design and implementation of application platforms. </li><li>Design, develop, test, document, deliver, and maintain new applications for systems. </li><li>Gather requirements and translate them into system design. </li><li>Configure and integrate products and solutions to enhance web-based applications. </li><li>Experience with SAML or equivalent SSO </li></ul>JOB REQUIREMENTS  <ul><li>At least three to five years of hands-on experience using Drupal. </li><li>Prior experience hosting websites in AWS infrastructure </li><li>Strong knowledge of PHP and PHP libraries </li><li>Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery and/or other web development languages </li><li>Experience using continuous integration tools (i.e., Github, Jenkins, etc.) </li><li>Drupal and Content Management System best practices knowledge </li><li>Experience with and knowledge of other CMS applications, including Expression Engine, WordPress, and related systems.</li><li>Experience with and knowledge of theme functions and the Drupal theme layer </li><li>Continually improve technical skills to stay current with new technologies and system development methodologies via CEUs, workshops, or professional training. </li><li>Contribute ideas and efforts towards internal projects and working as a team to solve various problems. </li></ul>REQUIRED SKILLS <ul><li>Effective verbal and written communication skills  </li><li>Results-oriented, reliable, and able to work under pressure. </li><li>Ability to communicate technical ideas to business users and other teams.  </li><li>Ability to both collaborate with team members and cross-functional teams and to work independently. </li><li>Eager to embrace current and emerging web technologies.</li><li>Desire to learn new languages and frameworks to deliver web properties. </li><li>Excellent time and project management skills </li><li>Ability to handle a fast-paced work environment, deadlines, and new challenges. </li></ul>This job description describes the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this position.  It should not be construed as an exhaustive list of all required duties, responsibilities, and skills.
