<h2>Position Summary&nbsp;</h2>The Accounting Clerk (Specialist) provides financial and administrative support including processing and reconciliation of cash receipts between systems, preparation of journal entries, updating supporting schedules relating to grants, programs, or other donor related activity.&nbsp;<h2>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</h2>The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:<h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul><li>Import cash receipt transactions weekly into the accounting system from the donor database.</li><li>Reconcile cash receipts financial information between the accounting system, donor database, and the operating bank account.</li><li>Assist in the preparation of the monthly bank account reconciliations.</li><li>Prepare adjusting journal entries as directed.</li><li>Prepare a variety of complex and recurring accounting-related reports, summaries, and reconciliations.</li><li>Assist and backup the Accounts Payable process.&nbsp;</li><li>Maintain Vendor records.</li><li>Assist in the preparation of schedules to support grants, programs, and other donor related activity.</li><li>Assist in the reconciliation and maintenance of schedules for various general ledger accounts.</li><li>Assist with fixed asset inventory and recordkeeping.</li><li>Assist and backup the deposit and petty cash processes.</li><li>Assist with Annual Budget and Annual Audit and other projects within the department.</li><li>Maintain compliance with accounting standards, government regulations, and tax laws.</li><li>Assist, as assigned by management, with the organization’s disaster response efforts.</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li></ul><h2>Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)</h2><ul><li>Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred</li><li>2+ years progressive accounting/bookkeeping experience in public accounting or similar work environment</li><li>Knowledge of not-for-profit accounting MIP software preferred</li><li>Strong computer aptitude, which includes expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word as well as experience with accounting software and general ledgers</li><li>Strong organization, oral and written communication skills</li><li>Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines</li><li>Ability to promote excellent performance in self and others</li><li>Ability to solve problems independently, effectively, and creatively</li><li>Demonstrated attention to details and ability to work in a fast paced environment</li><li>Ability to conduct research, study and synthesize data, and establish priorities</li><li>Flexibility and ability to work on multiple high-priority projects</li><li>Demonstrated outstanding accounting skills</li></ul><h2>Physical Demands and Work Environment&nbsp;</h2>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. General Description: Under general supervision, the Case Manager provides case management along with service and resource coordination in a human services environment, particularly with veterans and military families as well as those with low income and homelessness related conditions.
Primary Job Responsibilities &amp; Duties: 
<ol><li>Performs needs and comprehensive assessments focused on multiple life domains; develops and updates individualized service plans in partnership with clients and their families to address their needs and facilitate referral to appropriate treatment or service providers or facilities</li>
<li>Facilitates/coordinates service, support, resource acquisition to assist client households in meeting their needs</li>
<li>Conducts activities and monitors the service environment in a manner to maximize clients ability to achieve service plan goals, develop life skills, and/or sustain success and wellness</li>
<li>Promotes resolution to client challenges, fostering client empowerment, self-sufficiency, and resilience</li>
<li>Conduct comprehensive, client-centered social work activities, to include consistent case file documentation and management in accordance with best practices and Council on Accreditation (COA) accreditation standards</li>
</ol>Other Job Duties: 
<ul><li>Supports the triage and intake of clients into the appropriate level of intervention and care</li>
<li>Advocates on behalf of clients and families for services, supports and other related resources that address their basic needs and well-being</li>
<li>Conducts community and home visits (if needed) related to client needs</li>
<li>Provides follow-up and monitors service delivery and care environments</li>
<li>Stay abreast of community resources and procedures for referring clients to appropriate resources</li>
<li>Facilitates case consultation for client situations</li>
<li>Provides crisis prevention, intervention, and supportive counseling, as needed</li>
<li>Tracks client status through resolution</li>
<li>Composes or prepares correspondence, case notes, narrative and technical reports, notifications, and related documents using computer-based applications</li>
<li>Collects, tracks and reports case data in systems utilized by United Way</li>
<li>Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor</li>
<li>Due to the leadership role United Way is called upon to play in the community, particularly during times of crisis, it is the expectation that all United Way staff will be fully engaged in the organization's crisis plan and response efforts</li>
</ul>Supervises: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education &amp; Experience: 
<ul><li>Master’s degree required with major course work in social work, psychology, or other closely related field.</li>
<li>At least two (2) years of experience in social case work, counseling, eligibility determination, social service, or community resource referral or closely related work.</li>
<li>Veteran status* with equivalent service experience and/or certifications required.</li>
<li>Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse audience</li>
<li>Experience working with low income and homeless population preferred.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Experience working with veterans, service members, and families of veterans and service members strongly preferred.</li>
<li>Knowledge of general interviewing practices and/or techniques; knowledge of social work and counseling practices and techniques, including crisis prevention and intervention.</li>
<li>Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite</li>
