Position Summary(Eligible for Hybrid/ 3 days in office - Alexandria, VA)The Vice President, Technology Operations &amp; Digital Transformation is a senior executional leadership and forward-looking role responsible for driving operational excellence, technology modernization, and cross-enterprise platform integration. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer, this leader ensures that core technology services are robust, scalable, and aligned with the mission and long-term vision of the organization. The role combines strategic oversight with day-to-day management of critical systems, vendor ecosystems, business continuity planning, and enterprise-wide technology initiatives.​ &nbsp;Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership &amp; Service Excellence<ul><li>Lead and evolve the organization’s technology operations, including infrastructure, and IT service management (ITSM).</li><li>Co-lead evolving enterprise platforms (e.g., CRM, ERP, data environments).</li><li>Establish and manage performance benchmarks, KPIs, and SLAs for all technology services.</li><li>Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase reliability, reduce cost, and enhance the end-user experience.</li></ul>Digital Transformation Strategy<ul><li>Partner with the CTO to define and execute the digital transformation roadmap.</li><li>Lead initiatives that modernize core systems, introduce automation, and increase the use of AI and data-driven technologies.</li><li>Promote the adoption of cloud-native technologies and emerging tools aligned with enterprise goals.</li></ul>Business Continuity &amp; Risk Management<ul><li>Develop and lead the organization’s business continuity and disaster recovery planning.</li><li>Oversee risk assessments and delivery of mitigation strategies to ensure resilience of key systems and services.</li><li>Coordinate enterprise-wide continuity exercises and ensure compliance with policy, audit, and regulatory standards.</li></ul>Enterprise Architecture &amp; Platform Oversight<ul><li>Oversee integration and optimization of enterprise platforms, ensuring scalability and interoperability across business units.</li><li>Provide architectural guidance for new technology investments and ensure alignment with strategic priorities.</li><li>Support enterprise data governance, cybersecurity practices, and compliance frameworks in partnership with key stakeholders.</li></ul>Vendor &amp; Budget Management<ul><li>Manage key vendor relationships and ensure delivery of value through negotiated service contracts.</li><li>Collaborate with Finance and Procurement and oversight and management responsibility of the technology operations budget and capital planning.</li><li>Ensure transparency and accountability in project delivery and investment prioritization.</li></ul>Team Leadership &amp; Culture<ul><li>Mentor and develop a high-performing team of directors, and operational leads.</li><li>Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and equity.</li><li>Champion inclusive technology practices and ensure alignment with organizational values.</li></ul>Key Elements of the RoleThe VP, Technology Operations &amp; Digital Transformation will be accountable for driving the following critical elements of organizational transformation:<ul><li>Technology Adoption: Leading the implementation and integration of advanced digital technologies including cloud computing, big data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI).</li><li>Process Modernization: Streamlining and automating core business processes to enhance operational efficiency and reduce overall costs.</li><li>Customer Engagement: Elevating the quality of service and stakeholder engagement through digital platforms, data-informed outreach, and multi-channel communication.</li><li>Innovation: Creating an ecosystem that encourages experimentation, agile development, and innovation in products, services, and delivery models.</li><li>Cultural Shift: Supporting a shift in mindset across the organization toward digital fluency, adaptability, and continuous improvement.</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business, or related field; master’s degree preferred.</li><li>A minimum 12 years of progressive technology leadership experience, with a strong record in IT operations, enterprise platforms, and digital transformation.</li><li>Demonstrated expertise in managing business continuity and disaster recovery in complex environments.</li><li>Proven success leading large-scale transformation projects and technology modernization efforts.</li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of cloud computing (Microsoft Azure, AWS), enterprise systems (Salesforce), and IT service management frameworks.</li><li>Excellent executive communication skills and a track record of partnering effectively with C-level leaders and cross departmental functions.&nbsp;</li></ul>Preferred Attributes<ul><li>Executive presence and strategic foresight.</li><li>Skilled in navigating matrixed environments and aligning diverse stakeholders</li><li>Experience working in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations.</li><li>Strong project portfolio governance and vendor management skills.</li><li>Passion for ethical, inclusive, and human-centered technology leadership.</li></ul>This job description describes the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this position.
