POSITION: PHILANTHROPY &amp; RELATIONS MANAGER 
 
REPORTS TO: Director of Philanthropy 
 
Purpose: The Philanthropy &amp; Relations Manager supports the mission of 

United Way of El Paso County (UWEPC) by developing strategies 
to grow and enhance donor networks; leading philanthropy for new 
major donor and corporate investment giving efforts; and providing 
support for grant research and coordination. 


MAJOR DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES: 


PHILANTHROPY 

Donor Networks – 50% 

ï· Manage and lead donor networks, Tocqueville, Leadership, United Way Young 
Leaders Society, and RISE: 

o Establish and maintain staff support at all levels of leadership involvement 
(Advisory Board, Planning Committee(s), etc.). 

o Provide staff leadership and/or support for year-round engagement and 
activity plan: 

ï§ Speaker series, 
ï§ Volunteer projects, 
ï§ Leadership development, 
ï§ Networking events. 

o Collaborate with Directors of Philanthropy and Marketing to develop, 
coordinate, and execute comprehensive social media and digital 
marketing/outreach efforts i.e. Websites, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and 
Instagram. 

ï· Research and develop new donor networks to engage targeted communities. 
ï· Develop strategies to expand donor networks group donor base and create 

campaigns around engaging more members at the corporate level. 
ï· Track and update donor networks group membership through donor management 

software. 

o Timely entry of member information into the data management system.

o Cross-department coordination to ensure accuracy of network lists and 
updated contact information. 

ï· Ensure integration of donor network activities with all UWEPC departments and 
programs as well as maintaining direct ties to UWEPC mission and strategy. 

ï· Collect, organize, and report data related to donor engagement including Global 
Results Framework common indicators. 

ï· Plan and execute donor and sponsor recognition and “thank you” efforts. 

Philanthropy – 25% 

ï· Support Director of Philanthropy’s recruitment of new donors. 

ï· Assist to implement strategies that meet goals within workplace giving campaigns 
and year-round corporate engagement needs. 

ï· Assist in gathering and analyzing donor data and metrics related to engagement 
to determine the best methods of outreach as well as areas of impact of most 
interest for current and potential donors. Utilize findings to customize and tailor 
messaging and engagement opportunities. 

ï· Conduct presentations to employees, key executives, and other special interest 

groups. 

ï· Assist with annual Appreciation Luncheon to solicit table sales from corporate 
donors, ensuring corporate donors are appropriately acknowledged and 
coordinating thank-you’ s and appreciation gifts. 

Grant Research and Coordination – 25% 

ï· Research and identify grant opportunities that align with UWEPC’s mission, 
initiatives and impact programs. 

ï· Works with leadership team to develop a thorough understanding of 
organizational priorities and develop and implement an annual grants strategy to 
secure new and maintain renewable grant funding. 

ï· Conduct the full range of activities required to prepare and submit timely and 
compelling grant proposals/applications. 

ï· Works and collaborates with key staff to ensure that essential elements of the 
grant project are gathered and communicated in documents. 

ï· Establishes and maintains relationships with public and private funders. 


QUALIFICATIONS—KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 
Bachelor’s degree in subjects related to public relations, communications, marketing, or 
social services, plus five years of volunteer or work experience and/or an equivalent 
combination of education and experience related to the duties of the position. 

Knowledge of the non-profit sector is a plus. 

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 

Experience serving on a board of directors is a plus.

Experience or the ability to quickly learn and use a variety of other software platforms (e.g. 
Salesforce Upic, Asana) 

Experience in event planning is a plus. 

Must be able to work a flexible schedule with the possibility of early morning, evening, and

	Manage fundraising efforts within the Leadership division including stewardship of donors giving $1200 - $9999. Position Objective: This position is responsible for managing the overall financial procedures of the organization, including all accounting functions, audit preparation, accounting controls, the pledge/designation process, and the financial portions of grant management. OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Accounting &amp; Reporting:

211 NorCal operates in Shasta, Tehama, and Siskiyou counties and provides free social services information and referrals to residents 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The service is available through call, web (211norcal.org), and text services. Common referrals are for housing; food; utility assistance; counseling and addiction services; free or low-cost legal assistance, and transportation.
211 NorCal is experiencing growth due to increased awareness of the service; new contracts for outreach on specific health and child development issues; planned expansion to neighboring counties (for example, Plumas County service is envisioned within the next 12-18 months), and 211’s utility as an easy-to-remember number for public information during times of disaster. Working closely with the UWNC President &amp; CEO, Senior Director of Programs, and the agency’s senior leadership team, the Program Manager will help shape strategic direction for the service, looking for new opportunities to expand mission and revenue. The 211 Manager will ensure effective communications and collaboration with key stakeholders including valued funders; the UWNC Board of Directors and its Community Impact Committee; the 2-1-1 Advisory Committee; state 2-1-1 provider networks; non-profit partners, and emergency response agencies.
Principal Job Responsibilities 
	•Supervise the 211 resource database specialist and database contractor; oversee the collection and maintenance of resources for the 211 NorCal database and the maintenance and development of the 211norcal.org website 
	•Coordinate updates to 211norcal.org; provide materials as needed to the web contractor 
	•Serve as the principal contact for the 211 Call Center and database software vendor 
	•Serve as the principal contact for 211 funders and program partners 
	•Coordinate effective communications and project implementation with partner agencies in Shasta, Tehama, Siskiyou, and Plumas County 
	•Working with senior leadership, develop and implement program goals for 211 with an eye toward innovative initiatives that advance the mission and provide revenue opportunities 
	•Working with the President &amp; CEO, Senior Director of Programs, and, as needed, the Chief Development Officer, locate and apply for grants and contracts 
	•Ensure all activities mandated by contract are executed and that contracted reporting is completed in a timely fashion 
	•Ensure drafting and implementation of marketing and communications efforts aimed at spreading awareness and mobilizing public support for 211 
	•Staff and support the agency’s 211 Advisory Committee 
	•Provide reports on usage of the service and other operational data on a regular and ongoing basis 
	•Respond quickly and decisively to ensure effective mobilization and utilization of 211 during times of crisis and disaster 
	•Represent the CEO, other agency leaders, and United Way as needed and assigned to community and sector events 
	•Other duties as assigned

	•At least two years of management/supervisory experience. 
	•Proven track record of working with multiple agencies or entities to accomplish mutual objectives. 
	•Knowledge of regional social service issues and agencies is a plus. 
	•Bilingual/multilingual is a plus. 
	•Experience with a call service, call center, and/or helpline is a plus. 
	•Able to work on a keyboard comfortably through an eight-hour shift. 
	•Able to lift up to 15 pounds.
