Welcome Baby Program Manager

Title: Welcome Baby Program Manager   

Reports to: Welcome Baby Program Director

Summary:  Welcome Baby is a free community service designed to promote healthy, secure, and enjoyable beginnings for young children (0-3 years). Volunteers visit moms monthly in their homes bringing age-specific developmental information for their baby, parental engagement activities to enhance development, and parenting tips. Home visitors discuss good health habits, school-readiness activities, and family economic self-sufficiency. Families are also connected with resources in the community as needs arise.

The Welcome Baby team seeks a dynamic and energetic Program Manager who is passionate about early childhood development and supporting families in the community. The Program Manager will work closely with the Program Director to recruit and oversee a group of AmeriCorps members (who in turn recruit home visitation volunteers). The program manager will maintain strong partnerships with community stakeholders to propel forward the work of the Welcome Baby Program. Additionally, the program manager will ensure program measures and goals are being met. 

The ideal candidate is someone who has significant project management experience, a creative and results-driven mindset, and would like to grow and expand their team leadership skills. 

Key Responsibilities:           

  • Create and manage an annual AmeriCorps member recruitment plan in partnership with the Program Director.

  • Oversee annual learning kit production (~6,500 kits); assist in recruitment of volunteers to make kits; oversee ordering of materials for kits; manage and interface with volunteers who are assembling kits.

  • Support Program Director with grant tracking and management (quarterly progress reports, financial ledger submissions, performance measure tracking, etc.)

  • Manage all background checks for home visitors and applicable volunteers; support AmeriCorps members with process and any questions related to home visitor background checks; complete annual BCI compliance audit. 

  • Plan and conduct quarterly AmeriCorps in-service trainings with support from the Program Director.

  • Support and oversee the Community Outreach Plan with the support of the Early Childhood Coordinator in order to create and maintain high-level, committed partnerships with other stakeholders in the community to propel the work of Welcome Baby forward. 

  • Assist with all AmeriCorps site visits and member/supervisor evaluations.

  • Oversee  Bishop Storehouse and Deseret Industries grants (spending and reporting).

  • Plan and execute biannual home visitor trainings with the support of the Early Childhood Coordinator; coordinate with other counties to ensure AmeriCorps members have planned/conducted biannual trainings with home visitors at their sites. 

  • Oversee, train and manage the Welcome Baby Intern and LDS Service Missionaries.

  • Create an annual plan to oversee volunteer management/recruitment/retention; ensure all home visitors receive regular outreach from program staff and/or AmeriCorps members and continue to identify and improve upon ways we can elevate their experience as volunteers. 

  • Provide team support with tabling and community outreach events (occasionally on evenings and weekends, as needed).

Position Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate well with others on a team

  • Demonstrated ability to improve program systems Demonstrated ability to produce detail-oriented and timely work while managing multiple projects/priorities

  • Demonstrated high standards of professional ethics and conduct. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

  • Previous experience in early childhood education/development

  • 3+ years in a project management-focused role

  • Experience managing program budgets with multiple funding sources

  • Experience with grant monitoring and reporting 

Wage: $21-23/hour based on experience and qualifications

Benefits: Sick and vacation leave, 403(b) match up to 10% after 1 year

Location: Ogden, Utah

Hours: Part-time, 20 hours/week
