POSITION SUMMARY: (Hybrid, 3 days in office - Alexandria, VA)

United Way Worldwide is seeking an individual who is passionate about creating strong digital experiences for our Marketing Communications program. The Website Content Engineer Intern will serve as a technical and operational specialist of content migration efforts, providing critical support to the relaunch of our flagship website, UnitedWay.org. This individual will work with various content developers and editors within United Way and communicate with external partners. The Website Content Engineer Intern is responsible for supporting all content migration workflows, tracking, and migrating various content types to the site – effectively and efficiently – in a newly created Drupal environment. The content engineer will also ensure the quality, accuracy, and performance of the migrated content. The ideal candidate has strong technical, analytical, and programming skills, as well as a familiarity with various content formats, structures, and metadata. This position reports to our Website Manager, and is based out of our headquarters in Alexandria, VA. 
 

REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

  • Entering junior or senior year of college.
  • Majoring in Digital Marketing, Communications or Information Technology [IT].
  • Familiarity with Content Management Systems (CMS): Proficiency in working with popular CMS platforms such as Drupal, WordPress or Expression Engine.
  • Basic understanding of HTML and CSS: Ability to understand and edit HTML and CSS code for handling content formatting and styling during migration.
  • Basic understanding of Search Engine Optimization [SEO] and creating meta content for web page descriptions and page titles.
  • Attention to Detail: A meticulous eye for detail is crucial to ensure accurate content migration, including text, images, links, and metadata.
  • Strong Organizational Skills: Ability to organize and categorize content effectively, maintaining consistency and logical structure throughout the migration process.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Clear communication with team members and content stakeholders to understand requirements, address concerns, and provide updates on migration progress.
  • Ability to Work Independently and in a Team: Work independently when needed, while also collaborating effectively with other team members to ensure seamless content migration.
  • Time Management Skills: Efficiently manage time and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines and milestones without compromising quality.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Aptitude to troubleshoot and resolve issues that may arise during the content migration process, such as broken links or formatting errors.
  • Adaptability to Different Platforms: Willingness to learn and adapt to different CMS platforms and migration tools as required by the project.
  • Commitment to Quality Assurance: Dedication to conducting thorough QA checks post-migration to identify and rectify errors or inconsistencies, ensuring a flawless end result.

SALARY STATEMENT:

The budgeted lifespan salary range for this position is currently $15 per hour.

This role requires a blend of technical expertise, analytical prowess, and effective communication skills to derive actionable insights from complex datasets. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to strategic decision-making processes by harnessing the power of data lake technologies and predictive analytics tools.
