Web Developer & Software Manager

Broad Function/Purpose:

Our Digital Department is evolving to enable our organization to thrive. We require a skilled Web Developer & Software Manager to develop, maintain and update our websites, while also leading efforts to identify, roll out, and maintain new software for use throughout the organization.

The Web Developer & Software Manager will work closely with colleagues from various departments to develop websites that have robust functionality, that utilize the latest approaches, and that incorporate deep user insights and understanding. The Web Developer & Software Manager may also work with, and help lead, external web developers who may provide supplemental expertise and resources. 

The Web Developer & Software Manager will also team up with colleagues to identify software solutions that can help to improve the organization’s efficiency and effectiveness. The Web Developer & Software Manager will work with colleagues across the organization to break down needs, and research, identify, rollout, and maintain new software that answers those needs.


Working closely with the Senior Director, Digital Services, the Web Developer & Software Manager will be responsible for:

  • Website Development
    • Markup and coding
    • Scripting both client and server side
    • Network configuration
    • Server and network security configuration
    • Content Management System development
  • Website Maintenance
    • Ensuring websites are up-to-date with content and copy
    • Checking for errors and issues and correcting as they occur
    • Checking and maintaining for Search Engine Optimization on a regular basis
    • Performing backups on a regular basis
    • Keeping domain names up-to-date
    • Keeping abreast of updates to the web hosting platforms
    • Ensuring browser and OS compatibility
    • Ensuring websites are mobile device compatible
    • Maintaining a change log for updates
    • Creating a disaster recovery/business continuity plan for the websites
    • Ensuring all websites meet W3C Accessibility Standards
    • Ensuring all websites are accessible in multiple languages
  • Website Security
    • Ensuring Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificates are up-to-date
    • Using tools such as Rootkit scanners to ensure security
    • Performing checks for Cross-Site Scripting (XSS)
    • Maintaining security compliance to keep in line with best practices
    • Testing the sites security with penetration tools
    • Creating and maintaining security policies for the organization
  • Software Management
    • Collaborating with cross-functional colleagues, researching and identifying software and apps that help improve the organization’s performance including stakeholder experience
    • Developing a solid understanding of new software solutions that we rollout/intend to rollout such that the Web Developer & Software Manager can act as a resource to colleagues
    • Rolling out new products and ensuring users are informed of any changes and trained in the use of new products
    • Maintaining software including ensuring updates and making recommendations for improvements
  • Customer Orientation & Project Management
    • Being responsive, patient, and effective at translating complicated/technical terms and concepts for a lay audience
    • Diligently managing projects by setting goals, using timelines/milestones, effectively communicating with key stakeholders, and having a strong solutions orientation to navigate around obstacles


  • Minimum of 5 years of web development experience
  • Bachelor's degree in web development or related field
  • Strong knowledge and experience in programming applications
  • Proficient in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, PHP
  • Proficient in My SQL, ASP.NET
  • Dedicated team player
  • Ability to thrive in a customer-centric environment
  • Strong project management experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to develop ideas and processes and clearly express them
  • High degree of independent judgment
  • Able to dissect and solve complex problems

Job Type:

  • Full-time: 35 hours per week


  • $67,500 to $77,500 salary range
  • Benefits: Health, Vision, Dental, 401k, 401k match, Paid Holidays and Paid Time Off (PTO)

Work Environment:

  • This job function uses standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, printer, and photocopiers
  • Hybrid: Primarily remote, some office meetings with staff, board volunteers, vendors, and donors
