POSITION SUMMARY 

United Way Worldwide is looking for an individual who is passionate about ensuring our web assets are well-designed and aligned with UWW’s brand, include fresh and quality content, as well as function properly. As a Web Developer you will collaborate with organizational content owners, vendors, consultants, brand/marketing and other department /business unit leaders.  You will monitor website traffic,  troubleshoot problems associated with web assets when they arise, and complete updates /upgrades as necessary. You will also be responsible for planning and developing the overall delivery of assigned work projects within the department/team; determines work tactics, project deliverables and resource requirements; and participates in the development of departmental action plans, work processes and systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION 

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below at a satisfactory level: 

  1. Maintaining and developing web sites developed in Drupal 7 and 9/10
  2. Integrating third party software and components into UWW web sites
  3. Partnering with content owners, support teams and external vendors to troubleshoot issues with web infrastructure and plan the launch of new services
  4. Migrating web sites from Drupal 7 to 9/10
  5. Producing concise, descriptive documentation of planned development
  6. Working with internal stakeholder and external partners to manage UWW’s web properties
  7. Formulating effective, responsive web designs and deliver as a functional theme
  8. Designing and implementing new features and functionality
  9. Working closely with customers to ensure an effective, visually appealing, functional and intuitive implementation

JOB REQUIREMENTS 

Minimum requirements include a degree in Web Development or equivalent experience.

At least three years of experience in a similar role.

Prior experience hosting web sites in AWS infrastructure

Proficient in PHP and PHP libraries

Confident with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery and/or other web development languages

Knowledge of continuous integration tools (i.e., Github, Jenkins, etc.)

Experience and knowledge in migrating older systems into Drupal (i.e., ColdFusion)

Drupal and Content Management System best practices knowledge

An automation first mindset

Effective verbal and written communication skills 

Ability to collaborate with a distributed team

Desire to learn new languages and frameworks for delivery of web properties

Excellent time and project management skills

Experience with and knowledge of other CMS systems (i.e. WordPress, Expression Engine, etc.)

Experience with and knowledge of theme functions and of the Drupal theme layer
