Vice President Human Resources

Location:                    TOLEDO OFFICE/HYBRID

FLSA Job Status:      FULL TIME, EXEMPT        

Reports to:                 CHIEF FINANCE & OPERATIONS OFFICER                   

Supervises:                ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR


As a member of the Leadership Team, the VP of Human Resources provides consultation to management, serves as an employee champion, assesses, and anticipates HR needs, and seeks creative solutions. 

This position is also responsible for the oversight of the following core functional areas of HR: diversity, inclusion and belonging, benefits administration, employee relations, training and development, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, talent acquisition, payroll administration, and employment law compliance.


  • Administers organization’s employee benefit program, assists in annual contract renewals and open enrollment activities and processing.
  • Oversees documentation of personnel policies and procedures; administers employment of new hires, employee orientation and termination policies and procedures; develops policies, procedures, and process improvements, communicating and training management and employees on changes.
  • Responsible for sourcing, recruiting and interviewing new staff. Manages the processes for voluntary and involuntary employee exits from the organization. As needed, participates in the Unemployment claims disputes and claims.
  • Administers the company’s compensation program ensuring that the organization’s salary ranges are competitive and in line with the compensation philosophy.  Assist in the determination of salary budgets and salary increase guidelines.
  • Manages payroll to provide for bi-weekly-monthly payroll process for permanent staff, temporary staff, processes benefit and tax status changes affecting payroll; maintains payroll software
  • Administers personnel record keeping including employee files and employee time records.
  • Provides, evaluates and monitors training and development opportunities for staff to meet the needs of the organization. 
  • Serves as an employee advocate and provides counsel to staff in a confidential setting.
  • Spearhead the development and execution of D&I programs, initiatives, and activities, including related communications in partnership with the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee.
  • Provide strategic guidance to Affinity groups and their leadership

  • Experience and demonstrable ability to work closely and productively with people from various racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, educational, religious, sexual, gender, and generational backgrounds.
  • An advanced ability to maintain absolute confidentiality, exercise sound independent judgment, and exhibit high levels of integrity and discretion.
  • An ability to establish credibility and be decisive while maintaining positive employee relationships in service to the mission.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of employment law and compliance requirements and HR best practices. 
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing HR policies and programs
  • Demonstrated experience coaching and advising management and staff in an HR capacity

Experience/Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 5 – 7 years equivalent experience


  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good verbal, written and visual presentation skills.
  • Ability to anticipate requests and needs in advance and plan accordingly.
  • Skills to work effectively across internal functional areas in ambiguous situations.
  • Work appropriately and enthusiastically with others and responds appropriately in interpersonal situations.
