Temporary Lead Associate, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

United Way Worldwide’s (UWW) Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team is seeking a dynamic team member to help with the diverse and ever changing needs of our fast-paced team.  You will serve as a key member of our team working across all levels of UWW to ensure that diversity, equity and inclusion remain a priority and is closely linked to UWW’s overall business strategy.  You will report to the Senior Director and will work closely with the Manager.  This role will provide support to team members including coordinating events and providing support for special projects as needed.


An individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below at a satisfactory level:


  • Serve in meeting planner capacity for designing and implementing a major national event.
  • Assist with the coordination of internal diversity, equity and inclusion programs and events.
  • Serve on the team as a project leader on various initiatives, which includes coordinating and monitoring many aspects of our work.
  • Schedule and calendar meetings (both internal and external) as requested. Keeps leader well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities, follows up appropriately.
  • Draft internal and external communications skillfully with external consultants and vendors, as well as internal staff.
  • Assist with making travel decisions around airline and hotel accommodations for team members.
  • Serve as lead on the internal contract process and financial reporting.
  • Support team in meeting its goals by keeping track of assignments and tasks and communicating the status of the work.
  • Consistently exercise discretion and good judgement, including sensitivity to confidential information, as well as demonstrate cultural sensitivity and awareness related to individuals from a wide-range of backgrounds.
  • Provide support by skillfully designing PowerPoint presentations for the team.
  • Helps to keep organization charts, rosters, phone lists, etc. up to date.


Minimum requirements include a High School Diploma. Some college. Strong verbal and written communications skills. Good command of Microsoft Office products. Organized with an interest in event planning.  Team player with ability to interact with all staff levels.
