The Michigan Association of United Ways is a dynamic small team that provides multifaceted support to United Ways across Michigan. We support local United Ways that fight for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in every community.

Michigan 2-1-1 is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Michigan Association of United Ways. The Technology Support Specialist will be a temporary contracted employee of the Michigan Association of United Ways, but will report to Michigan 2-1-1.  Michigan 2-1-1 coordinates and supports easy access to information about community services through a network of regional partners sharing data and communications technology platforms.


Position Title:             Technology Support Specialist, Michigan 2-1-1

Reports To:                 Michigan 2-1-1 Technology Director

Summary:                   The Technology Specialist will support the smooth operation of the shared 2-1-1 technology platform by providing technical support to 2-1-1 centers across Michigan. Position is a 13-month contract and recognized under OPEIU Local 459 agreement.

Duties & Functions:


  • Work with the Technology Director to ensure all technology systems are functioning as needed to provide access to 2-1-1 services and meet contractual obligations, including statewide CRM platform, telecommunications platform, online interface and social media
  • Coordinate with 2-1-1 partners and technology vendors to promptly resolve any issues that limit or interfere with access to 2-1-1 services
  • Support and maintain the functionality and interoperability of 2-1-1 technology systems
  • Consult with internal and external users to ascertain needs and to ensure that the 2-1-1 system’s technology meets user and/or project requirements
  • Implement and manage security or integrity and backup procedures in conjunction with the Technology Director
  • Work with the Technology Director and 2-1-1 partners to ensure end-users have needed, support, advice, and feedback to effectively use 2-1-1 system technologies
  • Test and modifying systems to ensure that that they operate reliably
  • Complete daily data extracts to store in Michigan 2-1-1’s data warehouse
  • Keep up to date with new technology and providing guidance to Michigan 2-1-1 partners on technology needs and opportunities to improve or enhance services
  • Foster clear and open communication among internal and external partners


Salary:    $45,000 - $55,000, plus a comprehensive benefit package including employer-subsidized medical, dental, and vision insurance, an employer matched 403B, and other benefits averaging an additional 35% of non- salary benefit. Additional work-life benefits include generous vacation and PTO.



  • Experienced professional
  • Bachelor’s degree required or comparable experience in IT or telecommunications and database technology management
  • Strong project management capability, meets timelines and is accountable

  • Ability to travel statewide
