Background on Shared Services of MA: Shared Services of MA is an initiative focused on increasing business practices of childcare providers to improve the quality of care and sustainability of childcare businesses. Shared Services of MA provides workshops, coaching, and technical assistance to scale and support early education and care programs by strengthening their business models.

STATUS:   Part-time with the opportunity to expand to Full-time, exempt

POSITION OVERVIEW

United Way seeks an early childhood professional, fluent in Spanish with training experience to join its Shared Services of Massachusetts initiative. This is a full-time position providing the day-to-day components of the initiative, including training to early childhood centers and family childcare providers. This position will support systems- and community-level change for young children in United Way’s footprint, through supporting the sustainability of the childcare field, including the following key responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide trainings in Spanish for childcare providers (center-based and family childcare) on:

  • Business practices
  • Finance and budgeting
  • Childcare management software

Provide coaching and technical assistance in Spanish to childcare providers on business topics including but not limited to:

  • Childcare management software
  • Program Administration Scale (PAS) administration
  • Budgeting
  • Forecasting
  • Business planning
  • Cash flow analysis

Conduct train-the-trainer workshops to provide participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver effective classroom or on-line training in early childhood business finance to family childcare educators

Participate in ongoing meetings and planning sessions with the Shared Services Program Director and Community Impact Director

  • Coordinate and collaborate with external private- and publicly funded stakeholders to provide training as part of grant-funded opportunities or ongoing partnerships

REQUIREMENTS:

  • The successful candidate for this position will have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, business or related field
  • Language:  Spanish and English
  • Experience in Early Childhood Education
  • Previous experience as a trainer
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel), and instructional software
  • Experience with technologies and best practices for instructional manuals and teaching platforms
  • Experience with delivery of on-line instruction preferred
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Organized and able to create multiple timelines, budgets, and schedules
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Encouraging to team and staff; able to mentor and lead
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions
  • Willing and able to deliver training on evenings and weekends

Flexibility with virtual work through at least the end of June 2021, recognizing that this position will be expected to eventually travel throughout United Way’s footprint once it is safe to do so. Access to a car is helpful.
