Position Description:

The Senior Manager, Plentiful and Pantry Operations, is responsible for the management and implementation of the Plentiful NYC program. This position oversees efforts to ensure that 300 to 400 emergency food programs have sufficient knowledge, skills, and digital resources to optimize their use of Plentiful to contribute to a positive experience for pantry visitors. This position leads Plentiful onboarding and supervises a team of two to three AmeriCorps members who provide onboarding services. The Senior Manager will play an important role in building the capacity of food pantries to meet operational best practices that increase pantry accessibility and reduce wait times. As part of UWNYC’s Hunger Prevention and Nutrition Assistance Program (HPNAP), this position will conduct site visits to emergency food programs (EFPs) to ensure compliance with guidelines for food safety, nutrition, and administration. This position also provides general program support. The Senior Manager will recommend strategies to promote Plentiful and will work with the Director, FeedNYC to ensure alignment and increase efficiency across FBA tech solutions. The Senior Manager will also work closely with external partners on strategies for Plentiful recruitment and adoption.

Plentiful is a free, easy-to-use reservation system for food pantries and the people they serve. Managed in partnership with City Harvest, Plentiful supports over 300 food pantries and millions of clients experiencing food insecurity in NYC. Through web-based and mobile applications, Plentiful enables users to find emergency food programs closest to them, reserve a 15-minute window to pick up food, and provides a direct communication channel between food pantries and their clients. The platform significantly reduces client wait times, improves communication between food pantries and clients, and provides emergency food suppliers with more information about emergency food needs and patterns. Much like OpenTable, clients use their phones to discover pantries, register, and make reservations to get the food they need without waiting in line. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and manage the Plentiful recruitment and onboarding process  
  • Provide virtual and on-site technical assistance to pantries during onboarding
  • Supervise 2-3 AmeriCorps members who will provide onboarding services
  • Design and deliver workshops, trainings, and e-newsletters to support pantries in their use of Plentiful and to promote new features of the platform
  • Serve as primary point of contact and manages relationship with Plentiful product team, escalating customer support and technical support needs  
  • Manage the hardware grant program to provide equipment to EFPs
  • Manage the process of customer support and respond to requests for support.
  • Travel throughout the five boroughs of NYC on public transit to visit emergency food programs (EFPs)
  • Conduct HPNAP site visits to EFPs to ensure compliance with food safety, nutrition and administrative requirements and provide onsite technical assistance and training.
  • Plan, organize, and execute special capacity building projects as assigned.
  • Other HPNAP programmatic and administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Use Results Based Accountability Framework to track team goals.

 

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of experience working in or with nonprofits
  • Supervisory experience
  • Motivated to solve operational challenges in a community-based setting
  • Tech savvy
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience in developing / providing trainings
  • Understanding of community public health, food systems, and equity in NYC
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with ability to collaborate with diverse groups of people.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, driven, proactive, collaborative, flexible, and good-natured.
  • Strong presentation, public speaking, and meeting facilitation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook).
  • Experience with Salesforce, Calendly, Slack, a plus.
