Job Title: Senior Manager, Bank On Initiatives

Summary: The Senior Manager, Bank On Initiatives will be the lead for the local Bank On efforts in our five-county area. The Senior Manager will be responsible for directing and realizing the vision of Bank On Suncoast under the auspices of United Way Suncoast and its partners, including key municipality partners, banks and credit unions, non-profits and business leaders. The Senior Manager will be responsible for establishing strategic partnerships, launching and sustaining collaborative efforts to promote access to banking, overseeing day-to-day operations of Bank On Suncoast, and coordinating with the CFE Fund. In addition, the Senior Manager will assist in connecting the work of Bank On to other Financial Stability efforts within United Way and the community. This includes involvement in the investment process and in other cross-functional efforts.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Include the Following:

- COALITION MANAGEMENT: Cultivate new and existing relationships with local, regional, and national partners including city, county and state officials; banks and credit unions; community organizations; researchers and advocates; and banking regulators including the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Federal Reserve Bank, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Department of the Treasury, and National Credit Union Administration. Continue to support the multi-sector Bank On Advisory Committee. Build a strategic plan for Bank On Advisory committee yearly and manage committee to execute on agreed-upon outcomes and outputs to yield successful progress in Bank On efforts.
- BANK ON NATIONAL ACCOUNT STANDARDS: Work to connect residents to financial institution accounts certified as meeting Bank On National Account Standards. Work with other financial institutions who do not yet offer nationally certified products to local residents to achieve certification.
- BANKING ACCESS INTEGRATION: Identify and cultivate opportunities to incorporate banking access into existing program infrastructure. Work with program partners to implement successful integrations and expand upon current integration efforts.
- SCALABILITY: Expand upon partnerships from Bank On Fellowship to scale integration work to address the needs of the unbanked community in our area. Build relationships with larger nonprofits, civic, and governmental entities to integrate banking and successful Bank On practices into programming to create a culture of banking.
- INTEGRATION: Manage the asset development funding stream of the investment process and connect current efforts to future program investments. Responsibilities include supporting in the review of Letter of Intent applicants, guiding volunteers through review of proposals, reading and reviewing proposals to assess future success of programs, making funding recommendations from investment process, and managing logistics of the investment process as they pertain to the respective funding stream.
- DATA: Track, analyze and report data about above activities.
- SUSTAINABILITY AND FUNDRAISING: Identify and cultivate relationships with local funders and public funding source entities to seek ongoing public and private support to ensure program remains financially sustainable. Identify and leverage opportunities for in-kind and pro bono support for the program.
- MARKETING/MEDIA: Create an appropriate marketing and outreach strategy with Marketing team to reach unbanked local residents. Incorporate public service messages to encourage opening of safe and affordable accounts.
- TRAINING: Work with relevant partners to ensure awareness about and accessibility to certified banking products and related financial empowerment opportunities. Plan and execute an annual learning summit for the community to learn and apply best practices.
- LEARNING COMMUNITY: Work with the CFE Fund to support the local Bank On program model and coordinate on the multi-city Fellowship cohort initiative. Actively participate in the Bank On Fellows learning community opportunities. Assist in reporting to the CFE Fund on Fellowship activities and program progress. In addition, lead the learning communities for the asset development funding stream, currently known as the Financial Stability Network.
- FINANCIAL EDUCATION: Ensure financial education resources augment banking access goals and meet the unique needs of residents who are unbanked or underbanked.
- PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION: Manage Bank On program budget, oversee Bank On staff, interns and volunteers (as applicable), and perform other administrative functions as needed.
- TRAVEL: Some national and local travel, including annual national Bank On Summit.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field and/or 3-5 years of professional experience required
- Prior banking experience or knowledge of mainstream financial products and services required
- Familiarity with Community Reinvestment Act preferred
- Familiarity with challenges facing unbanked/underbanked individuals preferred
- Familiarity with city/municipal government infrastructure and programming required
- Experience running a program or project independently required
- Strong background in community organizing, coalition management, or multi-sector collaboration required
- Requires advanced knowledge of MS Office software and use of internet and database programs.
- Advanced interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work closely with a wide range of constituents, including financial institutions, government partners, funders, and community-based organizations required.
- Excellent written and presentation skills required.
- Excellent communication skills, oral and written, including active listening, conflict resolution, coordination, facilitation, social perceptiveness, and consensus-building skills necessary. Successful team-building, influencing diverse individuals and groups to achieve necessary outcomes.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Interns/volunteers
Licenses: Valid Driver’s License with a driving record that meets our insurance guidelines.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, they are regularly required to sit, talk and/or hear. They are frequently required to use finger and hand motions and occasionally required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. They must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 20 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: They primarily work in a normal office environment under moderate heat and noise levels, with extensive in-the field activities within the Suncoast area.
