The Senior Director is an experienced fundraiser with expertise in soliciting major gifts and planned gifts, focused on mission and values and shares our vision for ensuring a better future for all children, families and adults living in the five counties of United Way Suncoast.

Objectives & Responsibilities: 

  • Manage an individual portfolio consisting of 125-150 donors and prospects; including those who give through major and planned gifts. 
  • Develop, cultivate and steward major gift donor relationships within the assigned portfolio of Tocqueville members.  
  • Leverage advanced analytical skills and CRM proficiency to create a cultivation strategy for all prospects and donors in assigned portfolio.  
  • Implement annual and long-range plans for major giving target markets to increase giving and levels of participation through a moves management process. 
  • Work with Resource Development team to identify Tocqueville prospects and Planned Giving prospects through direct donor gifts or workplace campaigns. 
  • Meet goals for financial growth and engagement. 
  • Serve as the lead for the UWS Tocqueville Society responsible for managing strategies and planning for donor engagement specific to stewardship events, tours, and volunteer opportunities. 
  • Oversee development and maintenance of current and prospective major gift donors and planned giving activity in the portfolio. 
  • Correspond with major donors through personal contact and correspondence. 
  • Partner with others on programming for affinity group events.  
  • Document significant donor relationship activities; create and track solicitations and projections; and enter donor information in CRM on a regular basis. 
  • Ability to work extensively in-the field within the Suncoast region. 

Qualifications and Skills for Success: 

  • Ten (10) years relevant work experience in a not-for-profit fundraising program or consulting firm with a proven track record of developing and securing major and planned gifts in the 6 and 7 figure range.  Familiar with all aspects of fund development. Local experience is a must. 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. 
  • Familiarity with financial planning, bequests, donor advised funds, and major gift solicitation is preferred 
  • CFRE preferred. 
  • Bilingual or multilingual (English/Spanish/Creole) a plus.
