United Way Miami, Inc. is hiring for a Senior Coordinator, Employment Services to join our team. As an Employment Services, Senior Coordinator you will provide coordination support to assist transitioning active & former military service members, veterans and spouses in accessing employment opportunities.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess clients’ education, work experience, skills, abilities, qualifications, and job interest; assess client readiness for job referral, classroom training, on-the-job training, and/or support services; and attempt to match clients with available employment, training, or other opportunities/services.
  • Identify problems/barriers that hinder employability; assist clients in resolving and mitigating barriers to employment by identifying the need for other services and benefits; make appropriate referrals to veteran services organizations and other community partners.
  • Serve as point of contact for public and private employers in order to coordinate direct job placement for clients; and manage relationships with employers, academic and vocational training institutions, and support service and community resource agencies. 
  • Identify appropriate job placement/training opportunities for clients; maintain an awareness of local job market and opportunities to assist in providing guidance to clients; may arrange for employment interviews, attend job fairs, conduct special workshops, presentations, group orientations, or perform other training and outreach activities.
  • Monitor and evaluate client progress through program components; coordinate with MU Sr. Manager and Mgr. Veteran Services to resolve any problems or provide employment related navigation and guidance; may make phone calls or conduct field visits to investigate clients' progress in various programs designed to assist in preparing for and obtaining employment.
  • Input necessary information into connection platform system(s); maintain and update service connection records on client employment, training, and follow-up activities; prepare reports on client and employment program activities; and participate in training, pilot and other special projects, as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with Employment Committee to plan, organize and execute employment related activities.
  • Support other matrix assignments, as needed.

Education Requirements: Associate’s degree preferred or a combination of experience and education.  

Experience Requirements: Minimum two years of work experience in corporate or agency recruitment and selection; military experience/veteran cultural competency highly preferred; or any equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.

Technology Requirements:  Advanced Outlook, intermediate Microsoft Office suite and Andar/SalesForce database.

Other Essential Knowledge/Skills:  Must be detail-oriented and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Strong customer service and empathy skills required.   Ability to function in a team environment.
