HOW YOU’D FIT IN & STAND OUT:

  • This role is managed by the Vice President of Resource Development and sits on United Way’s Resource Development (RD) team, which is a team of four. The Resource Development team’s primary responsibility is to raise funds to support United Way’s mission.

  • We are looking for someone to take on the role of our Resource Development Operations Specialist (RDOS). This role will require data management, analytical, and organizational skills. To excel you must be willing and able to learn new technologies.
  • This role also provides support for the other three members of RD and generally is involved in all aspects of RD. It also interacts regularly with the Finance Team and Marketing and Engagement Team as well as the Community Impact Team.
  • The Resource Development team values innovative ideas, and this role provides the opportunity to take on or grow into projects of interest if they support our goals.
  • Sometimes this position in other nonprofit organizations is referred to as “the database manager or stewardship manager”.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS The Resource Development Operations Specialist is primarily responsible for maintenance of Andar, our donor database and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tool which is like Salesforce. Andar is a propriety tool and requires time and training to master.
Additionally, this role supports fundraising activities year-round. During the fall the RDOS’s primary responsibility is campaign activities. United Way raises approximately 70% of our funding through our workplace campaigns. Approximately 100 businesses in Olmsted County run a workplace campaign where United Way coordinates with their staff to talk about our work and give employees the opportunity to donate. Additionally, year-round, the RDOS will support the Major and Planned Giving Associate as well as the Vice President of Resource Development with individual fundraising activities through prospect (donor) management and research.
Database Management:

  • Update and add donor and business data and accounts to Andar.
  • Produce reports as requested by the RD, Finance, and Marketing and Engagement teams.
  • Design and distribute surveys for donors, businesses and partners as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of database through consistent de-duplicating of donors in the database and updating of contact information in the database.
  • Manage acknowledgment process of donors as donations are processed.

Campaign Support:

  • o Responsible for ePledge campaigns (an online giving platform) for employees to use to give electronically online, including some of our largest workplaces (ex: Mayo Clinic has 45,000 employees). This responsibility includes:
  • Consistent communication and follow-up with workplace contacts.
  • Cleaning, organizing, and uploading substantial amounts of data into Andar.
  • Updating the messaging and images on the giving platform.
  • Monitoring and assisting donors with technical problems or donation questions.
  • Assemble campaign supplies for the workplaces and plan distribution.
  • Monitor campaign supplies and inventory.
  • Manage volunteer(s) to support campaign supply assembly and other activities.

Additional Fundraising:

  • Support prospect (prospective and current donor) identification efforts by using wealth and philanthropy research tools like DonorSearch.
  • Lead implementation of a moves management approach with donors and prospective donors, helping MPGA, VP of RD and President to manage their portfolios (specific assigned donor and prospective donor relationships) with a documented custom cultivation (relationship building and introduction and inclusion in UWOCs mission) strategy for each donor.
  • Generate prospect reports weekly.
  • Identify donor interest segments for targeted communication.
  • Lead online giving strategies such as Peer to Peer (people asking their friends, family, and colleagues to give through an online giving team format) giving through tools such as MobileCause.
  • Assist with events and volunteer activities as needed.

We expect our new Resource Development Operations Specialist will have done some but not all these types of tasks in the past. We will provide support for on-the-job learning if you possess the core competencies described below:

HOURS:

  • Our typical work week is 37.5 hours.
  • Located in Olmsted County – We are looking to hire a resident or someone willing to live within daily commuting distance, as we are rooted in our local community. Some in-person meetings and activities are required as safety permits.
  • Typical office hours are Monday-Friday from 8:30am-5:00pm.
  • We offer flexible work schedules to meet individual and family needs, and we need you to be available during peak times to meet with internal and external stakeholders. We are willing to work together to make sure both employee and organizational needs are met.
  • Occasional availability outside of typical office hours is expected for special events, as individual circumstances allow.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Starting salary of $35,000 - $40,000 per year, depending on qualifications.
Employees are paid electronically twice a month.
Benefits include health, dental, and life insurance; 403b retirement plan with generous employer match available after one year of employment; up to 8 weeks paid parental leave.
20 days paid time off plus 10 paid holidays (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and two floating holidays to be used at the employee’s discretion).
