Job Title: Resource Development Intern

Position Timeframe: August 26, 2024 thru December 13, 2024

Position Type: Non-Exempt Part-Time (approx. 10 hours per week)

Salary Range: $19 hourly (paid in two installments: the first paid halfway through internship ($1520), the second upon completion ($1,520). Total Compensation per semester $3,040.

Scope of Position

Are you passionate about making a difference in your community while gaining valuable career experience in sales and marketing? Join us as a Resource Development Intern at United Way of Larimer County and play a pivotal role in supporting our mission to create lasting change for individuals and families by identifying and securing funding for our nonprofit partners and programs. You will engage in diverse responsibilities that directly impact our efforts to build strong corporate and individual donor relationships and secure vital financial support for our programs. Your primary responsibilities will involve identifying new corporate partnership opportunities, retaining current donor relationships by stewarding and engaging specific donor databases, and ensuring exceptional customer service for all our corporate and individual donor accounts.

Key Responsibilities 

  1. Engage in donor retention efforts: Manage stewardship through calls and handwritten notes, maintain donor databases, and ensure excellent customer service.
  2. Cultivate and nurture relationships with donors: Focus on renewing gifts annually and enhancing engagement and support.
  3. Develop business partnerships across Larimer County: Network through professional organizations and events, and steward corporate gifts from local, regional and national companies.
  4. Implement and manage departmental plans: Assist in event logistics and communications, and support special projects as assigned.
  5. Maintain clear communication with staff and provide administrative support: Include soliciting in-kind donations and active participation in meetings.

Preferred Qualifications 

  1. Currently enrolled in a college degree program, preferably in a relevant field such as nonprofit management, Sales, business administration, marketing, or a related field.
  2. Previous internship or relevant work experience is a plus. 
  3. Genuine passion for the non-profit sector and alignment with the organization's mission and values and commitment to equity. 
  4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment, collaborating with colleagues to achieve shared goals.   
  5. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
  6. Proficient written and verbal communication skills. 
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and research tools is expected.
  8. Enthusiastic about learning and implementing emerging and best fundraising practices.
