Resource Coordinator

Reports To:                           Program Manager

Compensation:                      $32,000-$36,000 plus benefits, holidays and PTO

Classification:                       Regular, Full Time, Non-exempt

Hours:                                    32 per week

Position Description

The primary role of the Resource Coordinator (RC) is to provide on-site resource coordination for employees of partner businesses at their place of work. The RC meets with employees individually to assess their situation, connect them with community and employer resources, screen for eligibility for available services, and provide financial education as needed. The RC will work directly with partner employers to develop trusting relationships with employees, managers, human resource staff, and community members. 

Work will primarily take place in the United Way office and in partner workplaces around Harrisonburg and Rockingham County. The position involves some travel within Harrisonburg and Rockingham County.  Hours are generally Monday through Friday between 8am to 5pm. Occasional early mornings, late evenings or weekends may be required with advance notice to support events and accommodate work schedule of partner employers. 

Operational

  • Receive and respond to requests for assistance from employees of partner businesses by phone, email, text, in writing and in person. 
  • Conduct intake interviews with employees to determine needs, screen for eligibility, collect required documentation and verify as needed.
  • Refer employees to resources offered through local agencies and community organizations.
  • Deliver financial education and counseling through group workshops and individual sessions. 
  • Ensure timely communication with employees, business partners and referral partners.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and notes in client records.
  • Attend United Way and community events to assist with outreach and engagement.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for local travel. (Mileage reimbursed.) 
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish or another language preferred but not required. (Bilingual language pay differential offered.) 

Essential Experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Proficiency in Google Apps including Drive, Docs, and Sheets. 
  • Experience using an online data management platform system preferred.
  • Experience in client services, customer service or similar preferred, but not required.
  • Experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds and vulnerable populations strongly preferred.
