Manager, Resource Development    

Position:            Manager, Resource Development                

Reports to:        Senior Director, Corporate Engagement & Partnerships

Position Overview:  This position will play an important role in the Resource Development team, supporting both the Corporate Engagement and Major & Individual Giving Teams. Responsibilities include supporting management of a portfolio of corporate accounts, representing UWNYC to external stakeholders, prospect research and individual donor cultivation, and providing operational support as needed.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

Corporate Engagement (60%)

  • Assist Account Executives in the stewardship and cultivation of corporate donors, including research and preparation of materials for meetings, drafting letters and call materials, and facilitating accurate and effective communications with ongoing donor stewardship
  • Assist and support the planning and implementation of strategies and accurate tracking for corporate giving and workplace giving campaigns, appeals and other fundraising activities
  • Draft timely correspondence on behalf of the Office of the Executive Vice President (OEVP) to be sent following meetings, including follow-up information, acknowledgement, etc.
  • Support external communications to donors and/or corporate contacts in partnership with Marketing & Communication Teams
  • In collaboration with the Prospect Researcher, conduct basic research on individual and corporate donors and prospects.  Proactively identify prospects and donors for increased giving to United Way
  • Assist relationship managers in responding to corporate or individual donor inquiries
  • Serve as point of contact for New Business Inquiries

 

Major & Individual Giving (30%)

  • Serve as a project manager, working with MarCom and the Major and Individual Giving team on 2 annual donor appeals, including creation of timelines, mailing lists and drafts of all the materials.
  • Support ad hoc digital giving campaign throughout the year (e.g. Giving Tuesday, etc.)
  • Assist in tracking moves management of top donors and prospects throughout the fiscal year to ensure solicitation timelines are met.
  • Support of affinity networks (Tocqueville, Women United, etc.)
  • Track pledges and work to ensure the database accurately reflects donor giving information

 

General Operating Support (10%)

  • Oversee correspondence and acknowledgement process and entry of donor information into organization’s database (ANDAR)
  • Provide assistance and support for donor engagement events and external activities
  • Complete a variety of administrative departmental tasks, which can include internal meeting agendas, organizing logistics and meeting minutes
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required or preferred experience
  • 4-6 years’ experience holding progressively responsible positions in nonprofit development, foundation giving, corporate philanthropy, or managing senior level business-to-business sales accounts
  • Excellent writing, editing, verbal, presentation, and public speaking skills
  • Presence and confidence to project credibility to donors and peers including top level corporate executives
  • Astute listener and able to understand, reflect, and incorporate what clients’ and peers’ needs and interests are
  • Ability to manage multiple demands; results oriented and ability to work quickly and accurately
  • Experience in working with Boards and volunteers a plus; extremely tactful and diplomatic in dealing with confidential concerns
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills
  • Works well with people and engenders trust and confidence from fellow staff and volunteers
