Sr. Director, Information Technology Services

Job Summary

The Sr. Director, Information Technology Services primary responsibility is to oversee the operation and security of the UWNYC technology and data infrastructure and to ensure it aligns with the strategic objectives of the Organization.  In addition, the person holding this position will be expected to manage the project management services provided by the IT group.

The Sr. Director will envision, plan, coordinate, direct, and design all operational and security activities of the IT services department, as well as provide direction and support for IT solutions that enhance mission-critical business operations. The Sr. Director of IT Services, will work closely with decision makers in other departments to envision, identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology and project management solutions for all aspects of UWNYC’s Operations.

Primary Duties & Responsibilies 

  • Ensure that the UWNYC hybrid network is operational and available to on-prem and remote based staff 24/7, while also ensuring that staff have the appropriate technology and tools to execute on the organizations mission and objectives.
  • Review performance of IT systems to determine operating costs, productivity levels, and upgrade requirements. Make recommendations for the improvement of the IT infrastructure and IT systems.
  • Define, manage, and communicate project milestones, service level agreements, and resource allocation to department leads, support staff, and end users.
  • Lead/Direct research on potential technology solutions and implementations in support of new initiatives, opportunities, and procurement efforts.
  • Oversee provision of end-user services, including Help Desk, technical, training and project management support services.
  • Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
  • Responsible for the development, review, and certification of all back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans.



Bachelors degree or an equivalent combination of education and 4 or more years’ experience managing an Information Systems department. Solid technical knowledge of Windows and Azure based networks, Project Management methodologies, and information security principles required.


Experience in project management, strategic planning, contracting, negotiating, and change management.  The ability to manage the entire spectrum of information technology operations.   Experience motivating teams to produce quality work within tight timeframes while simultaneously managing several projects.

Required Skills

  • Strong hands-on skills with Microsoft Azure, SharePoint, Salesforce & Microsoft Applications in an administrative capacity.
  • Exposure and use of Microsoft Power Platform is a plus.
  • Strong Leadership and Project Management background.
  • Experience with systems design and business requirements analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to know when to apply technology in solving business problems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Experience with network security principles, and general network management best practices.
  • Personable, innovative, and quick thinker who can grasp new information independently.
  • Ability to think and act clearly in pressure situations.
  • Able to respond after-hours to critical network events either cloud-based or NYC based datacenter.
