Position Summary United Way of Coastal Fairfield County and United Way of Western Connecticut are hiring a Community Impact Coordinator to serve as part of our Community Impact Team. Primary functions include overseeing the grantmaking process for the Greater Bridgeport community, providing operational support for United Way community programs and initiatives, and supporting the Greater Bridgeport Community Council. Salary for this position is not less than $50,000. The position is based out of our Bridgeport, CT office. Effective July 1, 2023, United Way of Coastal Fairfield County and United Way of Western Connecticut will merge to become United Way of Coastal and Western Connecticut. This strategic partnership brings together the strengths and resources of both organizations to create a united force for positive change and enhanced community impact across Fairfield and Southern Litchfield Counties. As United Way of Coastal and Western Connecticut, we will have a stronger, more coordinated approach to addressing the needs of our region, serving 27 towns, including the Cities of Bridgeport, Danbury, Norwalk, and Stamford, and the Towns of Bethel, Bridgewater, Brookfield, Darien, Easton, Fairfield, Kent, Monroe, New Canaan, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield, Roxbury, Sherman, Stratford, Trumbull, Warren, Washington, Westport, Wilton, and Weston, Connecticut. Essential Functions Coordinate United Way initiatives and community impact projects in Greater Bridgeport. Serve as local expert, understanding the evolution of needs in the community, engaging with key stakeholders, community and funded partners to strengthen collaboration throughout the community. Manage United Way’s grant review processes, which includes distributing and collecting RFPs and related documents, assisting with volunteer review recruitment and orientation, scheduling program presentations, staffing and facilitating review teams, and managing reporting. Manage Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) for the Bridgeport community. Recruit and engage volunteers to serve on local decision-making committee. Manage ongoing communications with community partners on deadlines, reporting, and data. Coordinate the Greater Bridgeport Community Council in collaboration with Community Impact Manager, including management of volunteers, recruitment and onboarding, meeting management and facilitation, etc. Collect and analyze data to determine impact and outcomes of programs and initiatives. Attend community events to conduct program outreach representing United Way and increasing organizational visibility. Preferred Experience and Education Minimum of a bachelor's degree in human relations, social work, business, or related field OR a minimum of 3 to 5 years combined experience in general human relations, social work, or community affairs work. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, which include one-on-one as well as group presentation. A self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a larger Community Impact team. Strong ties to the Greater Bridgeport community and demonstrated experience in relationship building. Ability to work with volunteers, lead committees, and work with the community at large. Strong meeting facilitation skills, including experience with virtual meeting software. High degree of organizational skills and attention to detail. Project management skills, including the ability to create and adhere to work plans and meet deadlines. Excellent computer/technology skills, particularly with Microsoft Software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, etc.) Experience with data and program evaluation. Multi-lingual; Spanish-speaking preferred. Valid driver’s license or access to reliable transportation to travel throughout Greater Bridgeport. Requires occasional weekend and evening work.
