Engagement Coordinator

SUMMARY 

United Way of Olmsted County (UWOC) is a community change organization that fights for the education, health, and financial stability of every person in our community. United Way fights to erase divisions, bridge divides, and right inequities. We connect people with resources that change lives and transform our community. 

The  Engagement Coordinator will increase UWOC’s capacity to effectively engage individuals, businesses, community leadership, partner organizations, donors, and prospective donors in volunteer and advocacy experiences that advance UWOC’s community impact agenda and drive revenues. The  Engagement Coordinator implements best practices in volunteer management, issue awareness, community engagement, and relationship-building. This role will develop and lead individual, affinity group, and corporate volunteer engagement strategies that position UWOC as a premier mobilizer of volunteers and advocates. This position is a key member of the Marketing and Engagement team and reports to the Marketing and Engagement Director. This position also works cross-functionally with the Community Impact and Resource Development teams. Key goals of this position are improved donor retention and increased community support for our community impact agenda. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Develop and implement an annual calendar of corporate and donor volunteer engagement opportunities, in collaboration with the Resource Development team 

  1. Develop and implement volunteer engagement opportunities for corporate stakeholders that align with corporate social responsibility efforts and UWOC impact goals  

  1. Provide for volunteer and engagement opportunities for UWOC donor affinity groups 

  1. Work with nonprofit partners to develop meaningful volunteer opportunities for UWOC stakeholders 

  1. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to plan and organize event experiences for UWOC stakeholders 

  1. Provide awesome experiences to donors, maintaining brand consistency across events and experiences 

  1. Coordinate planning and day-of execution of event logistics   

  1. Lead UWOC’s issue advocacy efforts in priority areas 

  1. Increase donor engagement and retention by providing awesome advocacy experiences 

  1. Raise awareness about and engage the community in creating solutions to local needs in identified areas. 

  1. Support staff in developing and implementing strategically aligned projects in resource development, marketing, and community impact  

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILTIES 

  1. Attend UWOC and community events, including occasional evenings and weekends 

  1. Perform other duties as requested 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS 

Desired Education and Experience:  

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 

  1. Work or volunteer experience in volunteer management, event management, or community engagement 

  1. Intercultural competence and demonstrated commitment to advancing racial, economic, and/or gender equity within organizations or communities is required 

  1. Knowledge and experience with issues and solutions in education, health, and/or financial stability is preferred 

  1. Experience with local community programs and/or human services is preferred. 

  1. Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed

  • Proficiency in Somali, Spanish, or other languages a plus 

  • Proficient in or willing to learn Office 365 and other web applications
